They go there with good intentions not knowing what road it is that is paved with good intentions and to where it leads, but finding out the hard way. They think the third world's problems are because of the mean old 1st world. They fail to recognise any moral or spiritual component to the chronic problems of the middle east. They can't see the obvious because, of course, the christian west has to be the "bad guy". It is ironic that they thought all it would take is some concerned loving folks to start a dialouge, and now there is no dialouge. Only demands and threats. And they beg for their lives knowing that no amount of love or dialouge will change the minds of thier captive who will probably take their heads.

    Edited to shorten the link

Can't you get a longer url than that?

Seriously though, I'm no fan of peace activism to the extent that some take it, but I don't think that just because someone is a peace activist we should make light of them being abducted.

I was wondering about that URL, but it worked, so I let it stay. I was sure you knew me well enough to know that I was not making light of them. I am serious and solomn. It is the irony that I want to express. And the misguidedness of their attitude. We do not cut folks heads of, but those who they wish to protect from us do!

All I can say is that the average hypocrite is too smart to do what these guys did and one has to wonder if they started believing their own foolish words? But looking at the experience of the communists whom Stalin sent to their deaths in the concentration camps, I am sure that these guys are saying to themselves that they themselves must have posed a threat to the Islamofascists or done something else wrong because the Islamofascists are good in their eyes--just as Stalin remained to the imprisoned, dying victims of the 1930s purges, according to Alexander Solzhenitsyn in The Gulag Archipelago.

The West just doesn't get it. They don't understand either Christian doctrine or Islamic doctrine. They could read the entire Koran and not see it as a nazi document written under the inspiration of Satan and all of the forces of hell. Such blockheads could be the death of us all. True, we should suffer fools gladly, but these fools risk the lives of all of us as we try to rescue them from their own profligate improvidence. And we can rest asssured that they will learn nothing from their experiences at the hands of these Islamofascist decapitators.

    HUH?
How can you possibly say this? What have you read to deduce such a conclusion?

Have you read Through the Gates of Splendor? Would you have made the same observation about them as well?

    Regards,
    BiR (still in Richmond)

I would call Jesus a "peace activist." Certainly he said nothing supporting war.

The Irony is that Mr. Kimber was said to be looking for human rights violations. He was meeting with nationals at a mosque, and surely was trying to ferret out atrocities he believed the western powers had commited, but it wont be the wetern powers who will remove his head from his body, and I say that with serious solimnity. Even though he was on their side, so to speak, it dose not matter to his captives. He is a western Christian, so his work on their behalf will not slow the swift sword of Alah when it does its bloody work as it most probably will.

For those who missed it, mr. Kember (the abductee) is a baptist.

I don't recall Jezus fighting in any of the Israeli Rebellions against the Roman Empire.

It's just as likely (if not more so) that he was digging for human rights violations caused by the Iraqi government. Everybody has been talking about Abu Ghraib, but the new local government has been accused of worse violations. More severe and much more systematic than anything happening amongst Coalition forces.

Let's not get in a point counter point on this. My point is valid. Jesus never got involved in any attempts at all to counter the Roman presence in Israel at all. He did not resemble a modern peace activist in any way.

I am sure Mr. Kimber was listening to all complaints, but the article says he was against our presence there. He never went to Iraq before it was occupied by western powers. They needed him worse and long before our presence their. His motivator in going was in opposition to our being there.

Mioque, I don't know if I should be concerned or flattered with the way you follow me around the board. LOL. Just kidding. But if we are going to continue to meet like this, I would like to know who I am speaking with better. Let's e-mail and share some background so we will know each other better.

Sadly, there is no question about it now, he's had an attitude adjustment and will soon meet his maker in a horrific way. (Unless the US military which he seemed to despise can find him and set him free.)

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."

    Guess who ?

Jesus never promised peace to anyone but his followers.

</font>[/QUOTE]Christ came to give the sword of the word, with which his disciples fight against the world.

This does not support war but does indicate that the truth of the Gospels will cause divisions among all people

The only peace Christ ever promised was through him. I completely reject him being painted as a peace activist.

Jesus promised his blessings on the Peacemaker.
Matt 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

I wouldn't want to see you miss out on any blessings Bro. Curtis.

In that case, I would call George Bush a peacemaker.

If George Bush is at peace with God and desires to live in peace with all men.
Only if he has the qualities of a changed life then by the peace that he has thru Christ, then he will be enabled to be an Ambassador of God's message to a troubled world.
