Forget about it. I did answer your questions. I gave David as a man who made war while achieving God's favor. Then I asked you what real peacemakers are. You still haven't answered, and now you want to change the subject. Very typical.

Who is the peacemaker ? David or Gandhi ? It's a real easy question.

Like I said, you did not answer my question.

What about the person who says they believe but never exhibits any fruit or works in their life?

This thread, started by you, is about peacemakers. Why will you not answer who is the better one ?

Because it would out you ? Are you saved, C.T.Boy ? I find nothing even remotely Christian in any of your posts.

Since this thread is about peacemakers, and since I answered your original question, I leave this thread as evidence that you are not willing, or are not capable of honest, rational debate.

I will pray that the Holy Spirit finds you.

    What a weird thread!!

Judge not a man by his clothes, but by his actions. It seems a better course of action, but nevertheless the world does tend to form quick opinions by ones ability to cover the envelope of ourselves. This exterior does serve the purpose of stopping our organs and bodily fluids from falling out which can only be a good thing:tongue3:

My dad was regular army for much of his life and he looked pretty dandy in his uniform and positively gorgeous in mess kit. As children we were bitterly disapointed to be told he only shot lions and tigers whilst in Malaya (a country with no lions and any tigers would have to be rare). He was a surveyor and cartographer.

My deceased brother was in Croatia during that war and I have photos of people welcoming the UN on their arrival to help keep the peace for townsfolk wanting above all things...a life where they could go about there business without fear. My brother was not military but civilian.

I might be called weird as I am a conservative Catholic and do not own trousers. Neither do I have any tattooes (almost de rigeur here), piercings or own a flash car. It ain't important, the state of my soul and hence my relationship with God is. Being Christian is regarded as weird....so be it!

    Offensive?!?

This answer shows the extent of the Americanization of the gospel. It's horrific.

Also, you think you're a better theologian than Brueggeman?

How many people did David kill in his wars?

How many British did Gandhi kill in liberating India?

How is killing more peaceful than not killing?

Finally, what does your question have to do with the OP?

You are using typical doublespeak. They will be peaceful when we kill them. Do you remember during the Vietnam war when an officer was ask, "Is that a friendly village." The officer replied, "Yes it is a friendly village. That is why we have to destroy it and the people before they can become an enemy village."

And yes I did answer your question in another thread. Solomon was a better example of a peacemaker than David.

Now answer my questions above. Thanks in advance.

    Answered in another thread.

Was Solomon a better peacemaker than Gandhi ? Can you provide scripture that backs up your assertion that Solomon kept Israel at peace better than David did ?

And remember, you are talking to the guy who has proved to you over & over, that a democrat president starved a half million Iraqis to death. I am against the war in Iraq, a fact that you seem to ignore. But your words "They will be peaceful when we kill them." are not my words, I have never said them, and I ask you to stop repeating that LIE.

Now I guess you don't believe in what the Bible has to say about hell. or you would be telling me Gandhi was a false prophet. He certainly was no peacemaker. How could someone who denies the Prince of Peace be called a "peacemaker" ? Especially by someone who calls themself a "Christian" ?

How did Gandhi send people to hell. His field was political not religious.

What about the British man who refused to allow Gandhi into a Christian church when he came seeking more knowledge about Christ?

I did not say those were your words. I used them as an example of double speak.

I will make a deal with you. I will retract them after you apologize for calling me a liar on numerous occasions.

What offends you in the OP. What do you not like about Brueggemann's saying?

Nope. You accused me of doublespeak, using those words as an example. Either show me my doublespeak, (which you cannot), retract the words, or this conversation is over. You do not get to define my position in this debate by putting words in my mouth.

Like I said, apologize for calling me a liar numerous times.

Now that I think about David's life and the lives he took in his wars I believe to call him a peacemaker is doublespeak. He engaged in war killing thousands. David is not a great role model. He had a man put in the front lines to be killed because he lusted after that man's wife.

    Please answer my questions.

You want me to apologize for calling you a liar, before you retract a lie. Do you see how silly that is ?

    Forget it.

You know nothing about the biblical term "peace maker", and I leave you to your ignorance.

I showed you that you doublespeak by calling David a peace maker. He was never known as a peace maker. A general, yes. Carrying out wars, yes. But a peacemaker, no.

Even the Bible says David was not a peace maker

    I Chronicles 28:3

3But God said unto me [David], Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood. [KJV]

But when I got ready to build it, God said to me [David], 'You may not build a house to honor me—you've done too much fighting—killed too many people.' [The Message]

Was David a role model? No.

Here are some of his sins:

Running a protection racket on his fellow Judaeans

His intended murder of Nabal (brought short by the efforts of Nabal's wife,
    Abigail)

Eating the "shewbread" from the altar, permitted only for the priests

    His adulterous affair with Bath-Sheba

His attempt to cover up this affair, when she became pregnant, by calling Uriah (her husband) back from the war and suggesting that he stay with her (Uriah refused)

His premeditated murder of Uriah, finally, as his previous plot to cover up the adultery failed (his punishment was the death of that son by her, and also the rebellion of his son Absalom and Absalom's taking of David's concubines in public)

His taking a census of the people of Judah and Israel (his punishment was a plague which ravaged his kingdom)

No, I will not list the scriptures. You can read them for yourself. They are in the Bible.

So, I showed that you do use doublespeak.

Now will you apologize for falsely calling me a liar numerous times?

So it is truly your contention that Gandhi is a better role model for Christians than David is ?

And I really don't think you know what doublespeak is, either. You haven't showed me anything like it. I explained how David was a peacemaker, yet you have not addressed it.

I never said that. I said that Gandhi was more peaceful than David. David killed thousands.

    How many did Gandhi kill?

The Bible, I Chronicles 28:3 states that God would not let David build the temple because he was a man of war.

So you disagree with the Bible when it states that David was a man of war?

See, your worldly view of a peacemaker, would have been someone who let Goliath live, maybe tried to talk to him, certainly "love" could tame this reprobate murderer.

    Is that accurate ?

If you read my posts, you would see where I said he was. I also told you how he created peace. Did you read either one of them ?

Is trying to misrepresent me the best you can do ?
