They vary in size from a few hundred to several thousand. My old Battalion in Hawaii had around 400 soldiers, but my company alone had 196.

I'm used to equating an infantry batallion to around 1000 men. Companies around 200. But my experience is USMC. And long ago.

Seems my Maint Bn (w/8 Companies) 124th of the Second Armored) had over 1400 troops - but now the Maint, Medical and S&T Bn have be replaced with Forward Spt Bn.
The only thing consistent in the military is change.
