Sorry friend, you failed to make your point. You linked these same weapons of mass carnage that you speak of with Aurora, Newtown, others. None of these involved automatic weapons. These were semi-automatic weapons. As I said before, there is a difference. I can fire a revolver as quickly as a semi-auto. The only difference is round capacity between semi-auto's and revolvers. And if you are trained well enough with speed loaders, the capacity difference is negligible.

For the record, automatic weapons are not banned. You just have to obtain a high level of licensing before you can have one. Truth is though, most automatics are seldomly used in full auto because keeping them aimed in your hand is crazy hard. Most are used in 3 round bursts or are large, heavy, and mounted to a vehicle.

    Talk about running backwards

You're dissembling to cover up the fact you had no valid point in the first place.

You clearly intended to link the shootings you mentioned with semi auto weapons and intentionally mislabeled them.

I know it's dishonest. You know it's dishonest and did it anyway. You got caught. Now you try to cover it up.

    Nice try.

I saw the University of Chicago professor on tv making the statement about Obama not believing in the right to bear arms. So we have one witness and only need one more to convict.

But here is something I got in email.

Today I loaded my Ruger SR1911 with a magazine of Hornady Critical Duty 220 gr. rounds and racked the slide. I placed the evil device on the table in the entry. Then I left it there and went to take care of some chores.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the yard service mowed the yard and weeded the flower beds, the pool guy cleaned my pool, several folks walked their dogs by on the sidewalk, some joggers jogged by and quite a few cars passed the house and stopped at the stop sign not far away. About four hours later when I returned, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it.

It hadn't moved itself outside. It hadn’t attacked anyone. No one was injured. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had to do so. In fact, even though it was loaded, it hadn’t attacked anyone? Well, you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people! How can this be? Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest handgun in the world.

The United States is 3rd in murders throughout the World. But if you take out Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom for murders. These 4 Cities also have the toughest gun control laws in the United States. ALL 4 are controlled by Democrats ... but it would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data – right?

Now I'm off to check on my spoons. I hear they're making people fat.

"Legitimate" is an ambiguous word. It lacks parameters. Protection from a tyrannical government is and always has been the sole purpose for the right to keep and bear.

Mr VP suggested everyone should get a shotgun. Good choice.

00 buck shot packs nine to ten .32 caliber balls into a single 2 3/4"shell. Three inch shells hold 15. Load 6 in the tube and one in the chamber. A Remington Model 1100 takes 14 hundredths of a second to cycle - emptying the spent chamber and loading a fresh round. In theory you could send 70 to 150 rounds down range in just under one second.

It's no "assault rifle" but, in close quarters, it would be hard to beat. Thanks for the tip Mr. Biden.

Yes, full-auto firearms can cause quicker carnage, assuming the user is practiced enough to hold the weapon on target. To make it relevant to this discussion, however, one should cite some examples of US mass murders where the perpetrator(s) used full-autos. (Prohibition era doesn't count.)
