Pfizer said on Oct. 7 that it had submitted a request to U.S. drug regulators to expand the authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine to children between the ages of 5 and 11.

The U.S.-based pharmaceutical company and its German partner BioNTech sent the request to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about a week after submitting data they said show that the vaccine triggered antibody responses in children in a Phase 2/3 clinical trial. The full results for the trial, which was run by the companies, haven’t yet been released.

“With new cases in children in the U.S. continuing to be at a high level, this submission is an important step in our ongoing effort against COVID-19,” Pfizer said in a statement.

Pfizer’s vaccine is already authorized for children aged 12 to 17 and approved for adults aged 18 and older, though the approved version isn’t yet available in the United States.

Some experts and parents are pushing for a vaccine for younger children, arguing that they can spread COVID-19 to others, even if they’re at little risk of severe disease themselves. But opponents note the low risk of danger COVID-19 poses to children and the elevated chances kids have of suffering heart inflammation if they receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Some European countries are now recommending just one dose of COVID-19 vaccines that utilize messenger RNA technology, such as the Pfizer vaccine, because of potential side effects.

Pfizer’s trial gave children a two-dose regimen of 10 micrograms each, while older populations were given doses of 30 micrograms each. The lower dosage “was carefully selected as the preferred dose for safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in children,” Pfizer and BioNTech stated in September.

Dr. Janet Woodcock, the acting commissioner of the FDA, recently said that the vaccine “may need a different dosage or formulation from that used in an older pediatric population or adults.”

“We know from our vast experience with other pediatric vaccines that children are not small adults, and we will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of clinical trial data submitted in support of the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine used in a younger pediatric population,” Woodcock said.

The agency’s vaccine advisory panel will meet on Oct. 26 to review the efficacy and safety data. A meeting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) vaccine advisory committee to discuss the matter hasn’t yet been scheduled.

White House COVID-19 response coordinator Jeffrey Zients told CNN that the new Pfizer request could be granted before Thanksgiving.

“We will be ready as soon as the CDC and the FDA give the go ahead,” Zients said. “We are ready. We have the supply. We’re working with states to set up convenient locations for parents and kids to get vaccinated, including pediatricians’ offices and community sites.”

The submission comes after new studies show that Pfizer vaccine’s effectiveness against infection and severe disease sharply wanes over time. In addition, three scientists from the company were recently recorded acknowledging that natural immunity, or the protection bestowed from getting COVID-19 and recovering, is similar to or better than the protection from the company’s vaccine.

COVID-19 is the disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.

Yes, they completed the trial phases and are seeking FDA approval for a vaccine (lower dose) to protect those 5 to 11.

Great news. Looks like approval could be as soon as November.

Jon, you go into a hazardous situation almost every day.

Hope you get a comprehensive physical often.

No worries for those that have little kids, they will not have any say in what kind of care they get as the state takes over.

According to some, those parents are irresponsible concerning their own health, let alone their children's.

But don't worry, be happy.

Physical twice a year. But dose rates are strictly monitored for gamma exposure. Who knows, maybe I'll be the next Hulk.

Yes, some probably do see people's health choices as being irresponsible. But each person has to live with the consequences. It only becomes irresponsible when it impacts other people (or when people expect others to pay sone coat or take some risk for their choices). Responsibility and irresponsibility is only, IMHO, applicable when dealing with groups within a larger milieu.

You do bring up a good point. If a child is injured and needs to be given blood, but the parent objects due to religious views should the child be allowed to die? What of the child is alert and asks for the medical treatment?

Should the child die to protect the parents freedom?

The reason I bring this up is it can be the next big debate concerning vaccines for kids.

nuclear power?

Interestingly, POTUS is apparently seeking OSHA apparatus to apply the cv vax mandate to airline pilots ... who are specifically EXEMPTED from OSHA.

airline pilots receive more radiation than any nuclear technician. But hey ... let's articulate what we want the worldly narrative to be for our own convenience (not directed at you specifically Jon) ... and control.

This reply is disturbing. You are disturbing. Unbelievable, actually. Have you seen babies who have been conceived after the mother was vaxed? Do you not think children already have enough vaxes? Not to mention…..THEY DON’T NEED IT!

No. Not nuclear power but a DOE nuclear site. It produced nuclear weapons, but the reactors never produced power.

Airline workers reciece (average) 300 mrem annually. This is not bad, but it is higher than most other occupations. The DOE limit is 5 rem, administratively controlled to 2 rem annually (2000 mrem). Where I work we have set the administrative control to 500 mrem, but most do not receive this amount. Some exceed it but only if necessary. We try to keep the levels as low as possible.

I do not really worry about radiation. As long as it is not crazy I'm fine. I am more cautious about alpha and beta contamination.

You get an uptake of alpha articles and you have to try and live with it or take your chances with chelating agent to get as much as possible out of your body.

that is about 30% of actual of the typical full-time pilot. our "union" did real time study of at least 3 different groups (long haul international/all domestic/north latitude domestic about 15 years ago. Without boring ya in the sausage making, we learned we are WAY beyond OSHA limits for radiation environment workers ... which is no doubt why we aren't governed by OSHA and why, especially with the increase to age 65 in 2007 from 60 mandatory retirement and overall significantly more flying time per pilot per month ... the single biggest post retirement threat is cancer. When I was hired in the late 90s, we had 85 y/o retirees of 25 years. They flew FAR less per month than me and my colleagues over the course of their career and they couldn't fly beyond 60 years of age. The number of 85 y/o retired airline pilots is plummeting.

No violin strings ... just the facts. never mind the cockpit noise of our typical narrow-body fleet being twice the office maximum limit.

It's part of the gig and we all accept it. The problem is in the hypocrisy of seeking to use this agency to force the cv vax mandate on a group who's demographic, by definition, (<65 & good health) puts them in a VERY low risk of significant covid danger.

I recognize you believe everyone should be CV vaxed ... multiple times ... even by mandate (?). I won't seek to change your mind because this is one of those issues where we're gonna dig-in. Ego.

I'll simply state I recognize, too, a Believer isn't losing his salvation over taking the jab, but I believe he's demonstrating a lack of faith and demonstrating a willingness to "go with the world." I'm not "anti-vax" ... I just finished the shingles series. I've had virtually every other vaccine produced (as a former combat officer in the USAF) (I missed out on the anthrax, that was after my time). But here's the deal ... veterinarians have been working to find a "safe and effective" mRNA vaccine for these coronaviruses over a decade and in at least a handful of different species. Not a single one has made the cut.

Without knowing anything else (and there's plenty else) I find it HIGHLY unlikely that the first effort volleyed on humans in no more than 1/7th the normal amount of time would produce THREE different CV vaccines.

The limit for aircraft workers is 20 mSv (2 rem), which is lower than the limit for DOE workers (5 rem). But both are within safe limits.

The reason we have people exposed to higher doses is the materials we work with. We have materials and areas that can exceed 5 grays/hr (500 rad or 500,000 mrem). These are marked as very high radiation areas. Our high radiation areas (we do a lot of work in these) are from 1000 mrem to 500 rad. We have materials that measure in the curies (1 curie - 3.7 E10 disintergrations per second).

But there is very little that can be done about radiation exposure. You are not going to wear anything that will stop x-ray or gamma from passing through your body. So the key is to track and limit the dose.

The difference is where a pilot may accumulate the doses throughout the year, our guys can accumulate 500 mrem in a month (and not be allowed to enter a rad area unless absolutely necessary). But the work is done by federal contractors. So while our limit is 5000 mrem annually, the company sets it at 500 mrem annually as this measure helps keep the contract.

The primary danger, however, is not radiation (x-ray or gamma) but alpha and beta particles. A dose can be exceeded, hopefully not by much. But people can have an uptake of alpha/beta. When we enter an area we have to "dress out" (for a RA/CA it's coveralls, hoods, two pairs of gloves, glove liners, booties, and rubber boots...all seams taped). Some areas require respirators. Some plastic suits with hoods. Some SCBA equipment.

But radiation workers, to include aircraft pilots, are generally safe and exposure is not an issue. There are, of course, risks when someone is exposed to any radiation. But the average person receives more than a pilot during their life from the environment (of course, those exposed to occupational radiation receive occupational rates in addition to what they would normally get).

Pfizer said on Oct. 7 that it had submitted a request to U.S. drug regulators to expand the authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine to children between the ages of 5 and 11.

So why should people take a risk they do not want to by taking the vaccine? Double Standard

What if the increased rate of ‘covid’ in kids were directly related to the shedding of their mandated vaxed parents? What if all the people that ran out to get vaxed early, shed on their coworkers & caused them to become ill? What if the swabs used to test all of the terrified masses were tainted with graphene which in turn caused illness? What if the disposable masks (made in china) were also tainted? What if the ‘protocol’ treatments which came down from the top, were not designed to cure but instead designed to drive fear? What if all the places with the highest current ‘covid’ were the highest vaccinated places, ie Israel & now Singapore? What if Trump was replaced on the 400 richest by Moderna execs? Things that make you go hhmmmmm. This is how the narrative is achieved, there will be casualties, but just look at the win column:

It is easy to play "what if's" when you get to just make the "if's" up.

But facts are there for the less....er....imaginative.

Russia, with a vaccination rate below 40%, has the highest number of new covid cases.

A few months ago this was India. What changed?

India stopped using Ivermectin and HCQ because they found these remedies had no effect. And they started mass vaccinations. Now India's covid rates are falling.
