PHIL KEAGGY HOPES HIS MUSIC IS SOMETIMES INSPIRED
(Woodbridge, Virginia-AP) -- Christian musician Phil Keaggy
(KAYG'-ee) says his guitar playing sometimes takes on a life of
its own -- so much so that he has to rein it in.
Sometimes he's told that his music ministers to people, and
Keaggy says it's a blessing if God can use him that way. But he
says, "The highest expression of music is to glorify God."
At 51, Keaggy says touring isn't as easy as it once was,
but he plans to keep making music as long as God keeps him
healthy.
He'll be part of a Christmas concert next Sunday in
Nashville. And Keaggy is putting finishing touches on a new album
with his old band Glass Harp.

Glass Harp is back together.

I've heard some of their new stuff and I was surprised. I normally don't like that kind of music but this was very good.

By the way, did I tell you I joined a gospel bluegrass band? Playing guitar and dobro. Its been a while since I've posted to you. Heard any good new bluegrass lately?

No, not really. It's funny, but sometimes the music I listen to comes in cycles and this just isn't a bluegrass cycle right now. Don't know why. I still love it as much as I ever did, but I've kind of been out of the bluegrass loop.

The last good bluegrass I heard was when we went to see Roland White at a local church a few weeks ago.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Americana/alt.country stuff. We're going to see Buffett on Tuesday night and I've been looking forward to it so guess that's why I've been listening to more of that kind of music.

You've got to check out a guy named T.J. Klay. He was the mandolin player for Western Flyer and has an awesome Gospel album out called "All Kinds of People". It's not a bluegrass album, it's kind of like the more ballad-y side of Delbert McClinton. Good stuff.
