    Call me a wimp, but I think GOPCHAD's post on this thread was the best one. I read these debates not because I know the answers but because I want to learn.
    Unfortunately we often talk past each other.
    Now, into the fray.
    Bro. Wes, you have chosen to redefine atonement so that it is no longer atonement. Atonement means to be made at one with God. If one's sins have been atoned for, they are, by definition, forgiven. It just makes no sense to say that all of mankind's sins are in fact atoned for but that some people are not saved.
    The stricter Calvinists use this point for their argument on Limited Atonement. However, I demur. Christ provided an Atonement for all of mankinds' sins but that atonement is only efficacious to those who believe. It's like saying Jones is the Lifeguard for all on the beach but some will not saved because they didn't cry out for salvation. At this point, my argument is neither Arminian or moderate Calvinistic. The point is that Christ provided for an atonement but that atonement is only made for believers.
