Poll: Franken and Dayton Losing Support Among Minnesota Voters

Support appears to be crumbling among constituents of Senator Al Franken (D-MN) and Minnesota Democratic Governor Mark Dayton, according to new poll data posted from Public Opinion Strategies this week that the Minnesota GOP is touting.

The statewide survey of 600 likely Minnesota voters, conducted between March 3 and 5, shows "fewer than half of Minnesotans (48%) want Al Franken to remain their US Senator." The data also shows that only a "slim majority of Minnesotans" (51%) want Dayton to remain as their governor.

Both Democratic politicians lost considerable support among independent voters. Only 43% percent of independents think that Franken deserves re-election, and 49% support another candidate for Franken's seat. Dayton only has 48% of independents' support, while 47% of that group wants someone else in office.

I'm starting to get the vibe that Franken might be vulnerable. The Republicans have a pretty good field of candidates that want to take him on. We'll have to wait and see how much money his cronies in Hollywood cough up to help his campaign. I don't think Obama would come here and campaign for him, and frankly, if I were Franken, I wouldn't want him to come and "help" me.

I think he has already decided his presence on the campaign trail could hurt Democrats and therefore has "offered" to stay away.

President Barack Obama has told Senate Democrats that he's willing to stay away from election battles where his presence would not be helpful, a Democratic source said -- an apparent nod to his poll numbers.

Obama's comments came when he and former President Bill Clinton attended the Senate Democrats' issues conference at Nationals Park on Wednesday.

Franken only won by 312 votes the first time around which was 41.99% of the vote. So if the poll is saying he has 48% of voters, that's actually an increase. See, 48 is more than 41.99.

That doesn't mean he isn't vulnerable, clearly he his, but not exactly in manner as "reported"
