Polls: Majority in 3 key states 'embarrassed' by Trump

A suite of new NBC News/Marist polls has found that majorities in three key states that helped tip the election for President Donald Trump now say they feel "embarrassed" by his conduct in office.

The polls released Sunday show that nearly two-thirds of registered voters in Pennsylvania (63%), Wisconsin and Michigan (both 64%) said they are embarrassed by Trump's conduct as President, while only about a quarter of registered voters in those states said they are "proud" of it.
Trump's approval ratings in those states are slightly better but still show that most disapprove of his performance.

And the GOP is the party of death for the living. Legalized death from malnutrition and sickness.

You are only pro-birth, not pro-life.

 

And the population as a whole voted for Hillary. Trump is a minority president. We have had them before.

Would seem he would not win either the popular vote nor the electoral college if the election were today. I expect his numbers to become worse as time goes by and more people finally find that he has lied to them and that he truly is immoral and evil.

 

OK, if you count votes, votes made on election day, who received the most votes.

I understand our election system quite well. I know the difference between the number of votes cast and the Electoral College and that sometimes a person can receive fewer votes on election day than their opponent and still will become the president because of the Electoral College votes. These are minority presidents.

Here are the five minority presidents and for your edification I will quote a source on the popular vote vs. the electoral vote. It is well known to those who actually do understand our system.

• John Quincy Adams who lost by 44,804 votes to Andrew Jackson in 1824
• Rutherford B. Hayes who lost by 264,292 votes to Samuel J. Tilden in 1876
• Benjamin Harrison who lost by 95,713 votes to Grover Cleveland in 1888
• George W. Bush who lost by 543,816 votes to Al Gore in the 2000 election.
• Donald J. Trump who lost by 2.9 million votes to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

POPULAR VS. ELECTORAL VOTES

Presidential elections in the United States are not popular vote contests. In fact, the writers of the Constitution made it so that only the House of Representatives were elected by popular vote. The Senators would be selected by state legislatures and the President would be selected by the electoral college. The Seventeenth Amendment was ratified in 1913 which made the election of Senators occur through popular vote. However, presidential elections still operate under the electoral system.

The Electoral College is made up of representatives generally selected by the political parties at their state conventions. Since most states except Nebraska and Maine follow a 'winner-take-all' principle of electoral votes, this means that whichever party's candidate wins a state's popular vote for the presidency will win all of that state's electoral votes.

The minimum electoral votes a state can have is three since this number is equal to a state's Senators plus Representatives. The Twenty-Third Amendment gave the District of Columbia three electoral votes since they have no Senators and Representatives.

Since states vary in population and many popular votes for different candidates can be quite close within an individual state, it makes sense that a candidate might win the popular vote across the entire United States but not win in the electoral college.

As a specific example le's say the electoral college is only made up of two states: Texas and Florida. Texas with its 38 votes goes entirely to a Republican candidate but the popular vote was very close and the Democratic candidate was behind by a very small margin of only 10,000 votes. In the same year, Florida with its 29 votes goes entirely to the Democratic candidate, yet the margin for the Democratic win was much larger with the popular vote win by over 1,000,000 votes This could result in a Republican win at the electoral college even though when the votes between the two states are counted, the Democrats won the popular vote.

Despite the example given above, it is very rare for a president to win the popular vote yet lose the election. As we have stated, this has only happened four times in US History, and only once in the last 100 years.

 

At least 8 have lived with us for varying lengths of time. None were legally adopted. We help a number of them through college and have kept in touch with most of them. All but one was a teenager. All were Orientals, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese, that God brought into our lives.

This does not count adults we have had live with us and one entire family.

Being pro-birth does not make a person pro-life. Pro-life means before and after birth. The GOP is not pro-life.

 

They oppose health care for children and the elderly in need, they oppose most social programs that help children in need, the GOP wants to gut WIC, they want to gut Meals on Wheels, etc., etc. That makes them pro-death for the living. And not only that but Trump proposed cutting services to the poor and elderly to give tax breaks to the most wealthy in our society.

Please don't tell me that the GOP cares for children, the elderly and the poor. Thanks.
