Pope Francis shuns grand apartment for two rooms

Seems to me there are some mega-church pastors who could well learn from Pope Francis ... maybe all of us could learn from his example.

His spokesman said he was "trying out this type of simple living" in a communal building with other priests.

In doing so he has broken a tradition which is more than a century old.

The decision reinforces the newly-elected Pope's austere reputation. As archbishop of Buenos Aires he refused to move into the Bishop's Palace.

Preferring more modest accommodation, he also often cooked his own meals.

The History Channel in Secret Access: The Vatican showed pictures inside the Pope's living quarters. They were just middle-class except that he has a lot of gold stuff befitting a king that has been donated over the centuries. He had a private office, a private chapel, a tv room, a piano, etc. I think that my tv at 40" is larger than his. Of course, The Vatican is in an ornate European style, like a palace. But the upkeep on buildings like that is very expensive. He may have to go to the papal apartment to address the crowd from the balcony window.

You can see his quarters on YouTube:
