ELMIRA, N.Y. – A postcard mailed nearly 70 years ago has finally arrived at the former upstate New York home of the couple who sent it.

The postcard was sent July 4, 1943, from Rockford, Ill., to sisters Pauline and Theresa Leisenring in Elmira.

Their brother, George Leisenring, was stationed at Rockford's Medical Center Barracks at Camp Grant, an Army post during World War II. Their parents were visiting him when they mailed the postcard home.

Great story. In the late 80s, Rev, some of us were refurnishing some old postal furniture. We started taking apart a desk and found a tax return from 1936, LOL. The owner was still alive and we returned it to him.

Interesting read. I was born at a Army base that no longer exists called Camp Breckenridge. It was located in Morganfield, KY. I once traveled there to see if the hospital was still standing. It had been torn down, and all that remained were some supply buildings and the officer's night club. I believe today it has been turned into a Job Corp center.
