Me, it's tornados and hurricanes that make me glad I'm a Californian. I can deal with earthquakes every ten years or so. But, twisters and hurricanes every year, no thank you.

Here in CNY we do not get earthquakes or tornadoes/hurricanes!
This weekend we did get the leftovers or the storm that hit the South.
The worse part for us - is that we lost power for several hours.
Considering what our friends down South went thru - we didnt have it that bad,]]

Otherwise - all we get is snow - about 120-150 inches a year - even if ii is a blizzard - its easy to deal with.

Some states are hit by tornadoes almost every year with devastating consequences
yessir ... but you're seeming to imply it's irresponsible to live in Kentucky? Or perhaps Florida (hurricanes)

The Caribbean gets whacked every year, also, with hurricanes.

Japan struck by typhoons regularly. Earthquakes in Kaly already mentioned.

Very merry England's days of sunshine rates about what Washington State's does ... but hey.

I'm simply urging caution on the emotional response. Appreciate the empathy for those who have suffered from the storm ... we all have storms. Let's avoid pointing to 'em as a basis for judgement necessarily.

I'm no scientist ( heck, when has that stopped me from offering an opinion....right, @Two Wings :Wink ) but I think weather patterns have changed. I spent most of my life in TN and until a couple decades ago we never were concerned about tornadoes. Then we had the ones that hit Lewis County.

I have made the observation the seasons DO seem to be slipping to the right ...

we've had more t-shirt-shorts Christmases in Texas the last 20 years than when I was a kid... and the ice is arriving in Mid-late February ... with a thunderstorm in February ... which typically means a freeze in April. Those were kinda rare, but the last decade/so, it's been nearly every year. "Don't plant yer garden until late April" I don't remember the last winter storm we had for Thanksgiving.

Where the tornados hit is still considered tornado alley.

When I was young living in the Nashville area we had snow (quite a bit). I remember sledding quite a bit. Raising my son he got to sled a few times in very little snow.

Weather definitely has changed (I suppose it always had to some extent). We have "tornado alley" and "Dixie alley". KY and TN are in "Dixie alley", so we are familiar with tornadoes but they are a bit worse at times.

The weather changes because of this:

For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.
~ Romans 8:19-23
