Preacher & Pastor

    How should we view Preachers & Pastors.

    I know that I have grown up with the feeling that the two are close to being synonyms.

    How about anyone else?

    Nope. You can preach to a crowd without ministering to them as their pastor. Our last pastor was my preacher, my pastor and a good friend.

    The two are not necessarily the same. But thank God for both.

    We had a pastor who was a gifted preacher. I'd say he was more of an evangelist than pastor. Gifted man who loves the Lord, but I believe because of the evidence that he should have given himself to just preaching. He retired from the pastorate and now preaches on occasion.

    They aren't the same.

    I have had good pastors who stunk as preachers.

    I have heard good preachers that were pitiful as a pastor.

    God bless the church that has both in one man.

    Our minister of education had a church but honestly felt he didn't have the gift to pastor but to administer and he does a wonderful job! He SURE CAN PREACH too! Just not a real people person. [​IMG]

    Preacher = kerux or herald of tidings

    Pastor = poimen or shepherd of flock

    Two vastly different jobs and two different gifts of the Holy Spirit. Rare to find them both in one man.
