President Obama's Golf War

Yup. They (th media) are turning on him, one by one. Gotta support Hillary, you know.

The media is doing what it does...trying to sell stuff. Sensational covers are nothing new.

If someone had pictured him with his head down at church praying and the same pic of Foley's parents, some folks would have questioned that too.

Preach the Gospel. Keep it moving.

I've been hearing that many Congressional Democrats and significant figures in the DNC have been troubled by his golfing. Not so much that the President golfs, but how frequently he hits the course. Often amid a crisis or simply an inopportune time.

It must be one of the things that he's good at doing. That and campaigning. We know he's not very good at governing, leading, or handling crises.

Bush Says He's Not A Golfer In Wartime
By Dan Eggen
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, May 14, 2008

President Bush said yesterday that he gave up golfing in 2003 "in solidarity" with the families of soldiers who were dying in Iraq, concluding that it was "just not worth it anymore" to play the sport in a time of war.

"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," Bush said in a White House interview with the Politico. "I feel I owe it to the families to be as -- to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

Bush said he decided to stop playing golf on Aug. 19, 2003, when a truck bomb in Baghdad killed U.N. special representative Sergio Vieira de Mello and more than a dozen others.

Could be I am giving OBAMA the benefit of the doubt. You do have to admit there is a lot of pressure in his job (if he is doing a good or bad job is another thread) but there is pressure - could be this is how he is able to "chill out"

If you remember during WWII, there was talk about ML Baseball shutting down. FDR said we need the diversion of ML baseball for our sanity. (or words to that effect)

That was because of the bad publicity the incident in that clip created for him.

Don't think so.

Clip was recorded on August 4, 2002. Bush quit playing golf on August 19, 2003, OVER A YEAR LATER.

The clip was not in the public eye until it was included in Michael Moore's movie, Fahrenheit 9/11, which was released in June 2004. So most of the heat Bush would have felt from the clip would have occurred in the summer of 2004. He had quit golfing the summer before.

Nice try, though.
