I think she should mind her own business.

Surprise, because she didn't realize how much alcohol is actually in use by ALL of us.

    Yup.

    It was thrust upon her.

Or did this wicked woman, who does not meet your criteria for what is Christian...invade their home and find the receipt and then express shock at our friend Don?

    He can tell us.

    God bless.

So we have at first shock, and then surprise.

I can understand the surprise concerning alcohol content in vanilla, but do you have a problem with her shock? Do you think she was expressing self-righteous and hypocritical indignation in her "shock?"

And how did she find out? How did she learn of this?

And that is what I would call being a good steward with money.

I hope your wife uses it to make goodies for you, as well as others. Can I guess she does that?

    God bless.

More importantly would be...my relationship to the world I live in as contrasted with my relationship with God and the Body of Christ.

At first, she was, because she was expressing an "absolutely no alcohol" ideal. Then she was educated on how much alcohol is actually in our lives. We *all* came to a more balanced understanding of things.

The women-folk were discussing whatever it is that women-folk discuss; I don't know exactly how it came up.

She was baking pies, muffins, and other things for sale at local coffee shops; but we've had some situations where that's been placed on hold for the time being.

You can call me a, well, whatever a Dispys is, but in order to understand my doctrine and identify it...you would actually have to engage in a little more than your typical fair, which is a campaign of, sorry, what seems to be only sniveling.

"The Church done did me wrong, so I will sit around and try to get other people to join me in my reclusive and hostile attitude towards organized fellowship."

Get over it, my friend, and stop trying to encourage people to join your faith.

    God bless.

Then I must also be self righteous because I also advocate a "no alcohol" ideal.

I really see no reason for Christians to indulge. I don't judge those who do, but that does not mean I would not be "shocked" to learn of a "Christian" buying a bottle of liquor if the context was not presented as being used for something other than a beverage known to alter one's mind.

Just how much vanilla extract do you partake of, my friend?

And just how much alcohol is in the usual half to teaspoon of vanilla that is also accompanied by a vast percentage more of ingredients that are not intoxicating?

It sounds a little more like you feel you set her straight.

So what is your Pastor's views on the subject?

So it was you wife that set her straight.

Well, they vanilla is better when its aged.

    ;)

    God bless.

And yet Jesus turned water into wine and drank wine...

Not a drinker in the least, but teetotalism is foreign to the bible, imo of course...

Yes I am, you just don't realize it yet.

You would have to understand my theology before you could judge it.

And it is quite clear theology is not something you are interested in.

Trust me you don't have a clue as to what it is I believe.

You cannot even address that which has been clearly presented to you.

Going out into the world does mean we go into the Lion's Den.

Had a former band-mate who had that bright idea. Wanted to start a band and play secular establishments. "Yeah, we'll witness for Christ doing that."

Next thing you know he is talking about how good the drink a bar named after his band was.

As far as speaking to alcohol drinkers...

...guess I have to inform you I am doing that now, aren't I?

I guess your theology thinks that Christians save people.

I talk to people about drinking all the time.

Sad that I have to do it on a Christian forum as well. Even sadder the guy advocating having a drink also spends most of his time persecuting the Body of Christ.

What do you call this? lol

    Trying to do that now...

Not in a salvific sense...just from a horrible theology that has proved to show him nothing about God's love for His body. Flaws and all.

It might be best to explain that it seems that I have been where you are, but you have not been where I am. I no longer need a drink, and I certainly don't encourage people to drink.

That's tantamount to saying, "Yeah, we can eat pork, go ahead, eat ten pork chops at a time." I see it as harmful, and the only reason to do it is to alter the mind, so...

    ...sorry this pricks your conscience.

Yes I do, you just won't admit it.

That's why you keep bothering me.

    ;)

That is a lie, I am not a sigh, naaaa!

I don't know who told you that, but it just isn't true.

    God bless.

I guess you missed this guy:

    Luke 1:11-17

    King James Version (KJV)

11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Check it out some time...his name is John.

    Oh, a Catholic, eh?

There is only one sin that cannot be forgiven, and that is the Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost.

Bet I can find more verses that warn against drinking than you can that advocate it.

So tell me, exactly what is the reason you give for drinking yourself?

    Ever get drunk?

    Could be.

It will be, I believe, from among Orthodox Jewry that the 144,000 will be chosen.

What other Orthodox practices do you also feel is right in the sight of God?

    God bless.

Did Jesus drink wine? Was He called a winebibber?

Don't disagree with u about John the Baptist. Same was for Samson's mother, too. And also Samson...

That's right.....And Samson was told not to cut his hair....so do you cut your hair?

BTW....do you follow John or do you follow Jesus?

NOPE...not even close. However Hank did mention that the Jesuits 1st started that innocence about rapture (just for your edification, Jesuits are Catholic priests and in some respects you remind me of them). :)

    Well Duh.......

See Willis, some people are dry drunks......while they are off the sauce, it infuriates them when others drink and can handle themselves. So they come up with nonsense to force the rest of us to conform to their illness. And when someone tells them to grow up face their own weakness they get winery. Suddenly Christ drank grapejuce.
