Public schools' failure to teach reading soundly

Teachers today seem to be the problem rather than the solution.
Perhaps it's time to reconsider the national unionization of teachers and break up the National Education Association.
They have lost their focus - kids!

I never got involved in phonics - my brothers endured that and don't read for pleasure.

As second graders we went to school library weekly to pick out books. It was my favorite time.
The teacher read to us daily,
I still remember two of the books she read,

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle (published in 1962) - It was read to us in 2nd grade in 1964
Follow My Leader by James Garfield​

I began to read to my kids when they turned three but none of them became thriving readers.
BUT MY GRANDDAUGHTER IS!!!
I told her if she wants a book, just ask me and I'll send it her way.
She's taken me up on that offer a few times.

It is the voters who have slept through the takeover of our institutions. They keep electing those that teach nonsense, advocate unbiblical doctrine (i.e. celebrate Pride) and closed schools longer than necessary. As long as more than half the people continue to vote for Democrats, our downward spiral with continue. Picture kids not saluting Mr. Hitler, but something on Tic Toc. Addiction resulting in distraction from objective reality.

If you have not learned to read with comprehension, using critical reading skills, you will be easily led or misled into the communist quagmire. Not to mention learning from the bible that the world's value system is bogus and corrupt.
