Phillip quoted:

John 9:49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

    S&T:

Praying to Mary, praying to saints, mixing the words of man with the words of God and trying to pass it off as scripture, and using mystic visions to show what is supposedly God's truth is all going against Jesus, therefore this passage celarly illustrated that this movie is against Him.

Yeah, I think it's obvious that weird, troubled Mel Gibson actually enjoyed seeing all that savagery inflicted on Jesus...

...Mel magnified it, to glorify, not Jesus, but violence itself. Any secular psychiatrist can see that, IMHO. I have studied marketing and psychiatry and persuasion for many many years, and I'm trained to see these things. And I see them.

I have studied film criticism, literary theory, deconstructionist philosophy (Derrida, etc.), psychoanalysis, social anthropology in New York City, and have worked in various sociological and marketing fields in many capacities. I have studied the causes of masochism and sadism and the fixations that mentally ill people are afflicted with.

Mel is deeply disturbed. It's a rotten shame those who should gently rebuke him in the name of Jesus and mental health...they praise him instead.

It is so obvious what Mel Gibson is doing in this film. All one really needs is the Bible, decency, and common sense. But those other fields of study I have gone through help, too.

Mel relished the brutality, like in his other violent films. Mel is very disturbed and disturbing. Pray for this lost and confused man who is close to the truth, close but so far away paradoxically.

Mel reminds me of certain surrealists like Salvador Dali and the futurist Marinettti and Andre Breton who exalted violence and gore as aesthetic radicalism. For shock effect. To wake up and torment the bourgeossie.

I'll make sure I watch out for the evil that is behind this movie. Thanx for all your replys after mine.

I see you are new here... welcome to the board! And don't take what anyone says here as fact... my opinions included. Pray and decided for yourself.

    God bless

Yeah, express an opinion, then see if you can handle fellow Christians swarming you with hostile counter-opinions.

It will sharpen your witnessing skills and make you a stronger, braver, more assertive Christian.

This is spiritual warfare training...provided FREE of charge by the BAPTIST BOARD.

I'm very controversial in nearly every opinion, but I can't help it. I say what I think, as diplomatically as possible, but often eccentric and aggressive.

Just don't take anything personal. Try to refrain from attacks on people as people. Just dismantle ideas, as you love all people, regardless of their opinions, creeds, or dogmas.

Find nice things to say about worthy debate opponents. Agree with and compliment your debate opponents whenever honestly possible.

Test your own opinions to see if they hold up to close scrutiny. don't try to fit in with the mainstream, but don't swim against it just to be obnoxious.

Peace, Love and JOY in Jesus the Pantocrator (Ruler of ALL).

Luke 9:49 Now John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." 50 But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side."

Now we have a problem. I support the movie and you are saying that it is very "likely" that I am deceived or even an implication of being lost. Brother, that is one area I don't have a problem with and I think I'll let you take that up with Jesus... :D

Check your chapter, there are only 41 vss. in John 9. </font>
That's just an old lawyer trick to make me look like I don't know what I'm talking about. While your checking the chapter, I'll check the book, It's in Luke not John. I just happened to have John on my mind because that is where I had been reading earlier today! The verse STILL stands! ;)

Brother, that is one area I don't have a problem with and I think I'll let you take that up with Jesus... :D </font>
No, Brother, I said that I never said anyone watching the film or supporting the film was or is lost. I did say I beleived these were very likely deceived. Being lost is not the same as being deceived. Having beleived and repented you would have to unbeleive and unrepent but deception is never a straightforward process.

I also was not trying a Lawyer's trick. I just looked the passage up to read it and it wasn't there. I checked it several times because I have glaucoma and it is beginning to worsen and I wanted to be certain of the post I made.

Otherwise, I would enjoy your discussion of this statement by Christ at your convenience.

That is one objective of the enemy... another objective is to get people fighting over a weapon of the GOOD GUYS... Satan could be fooling the entire world (with 99% of the evangelical Christian world); but there's also the possibility he is trying to attack the film. That is my opinion but I realize I will neither change anyone around here or be changed. :D

See, the same thing could be said from my position... i too could take the "deceived" route... the same arguments here are going on in the Bible versions forum... each claims to have God on their side.

    God bless!

Each Bible version claims to have God on their side?

I know the same argument can be made from your position. Even Hitler had men praying for God's guidance. So, he too must have thought God was on his side.

Still, the holocaust happened because the Christians there were afraid to oppose the strength and popularity of the Nazi party.

Now, having said that, I realize that is an extreme example. It would be better for you to make your claims that satan is decieving those standing for the Bible over top of the falsehoods found in this movie.

When you find scripture that shows satan using scripture without taking from or adding to, please post it.

I wouldn't last in the Bible Versions Forum.

You see, I like em all. I like paraphrases and literals and versions and Aramaic and Greek and Hebrew interlinears and the Cotton Patch Version and the Non-ecclesiastical version and The Message and Amplified Bible and just about anything.

I'm a stickler for biblical accuracy, but not being a PhD scholar on Bible translations, I tend to enjoy variant readings. When I study I use Strong's concordance and KJV though.

What I don't like, as everyone knows by now, are Jesus films that claim to be "it is as it was" when all kinds of nutty junk is thrown in, added dialogue and weird delusional scenes that are not even Hinted At in the Gospel (Jesus dangling on a chain from a cliff, devil as a womanly entity in Gethsemane, Mary vampireshly kissing feet of dead or dying Jesus and non-kosherishly getting blood in her mouth, etc.).

    Peace.
