Reformation Day

Yesterday I learned about the Nailing of Martin Luther's 95 Thesis to the church door on October 31, and the connection to the Roman Catholic All Hallows Eve. For me this date is connected to remembering how one man, in opposition to wrong beliefs and practices of his church, his companions and his culture, and nearly alone in that opposition, took a public stand for what he believed to be true according to the Scripture. It was a time in human history when God was moving in the world to impress upon individual believers these important truths that make an eternal difference- for all people, for all time:

SALVATION IS BY GRACE

ALONE

THROUGH FAITH

ALONE

BECAUSE OF CHRIST

ALONE

FROM SCRIPTURES

ALONE

FOR THE GLORY OF GOD

ALONE
