Anybody else see this story from the Denver Post about the democratic convention?

    http://blogs.denverpost.com/opinion/2008/09/06/republican-recycling/

What a huge mistake. From the link:

Where it is true the flags were left behind the DNC neither cleaned the stadium, hired the workers or threw out the flags. It was some of those same workers that were throwing them away when others thought it would be good to make an issue of what was left behind.

Perhaps the DNC should say they left the flags for the workers...

Here we see Obama violating the flag code at his offical website.

    http://my.barackobama.com/page/cont...earch-swt-ex&gclid=CLKmrff8x5UCFRhhnAodbjcgiQ

According to the Flag Code, a flag is a flag or anything "by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag."

Section 8g: "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature."

That's not a flag, it's just red and white stripes. I guess a candy cane would be illegal also if this is illegal.

So the red and white stripes with the blue fading over the horizon aren't meant to represent the flag?

Why didn't they choose orange and black instead?

What subconscience association do you suppose they were trying to make when designing the logo?

BTW - I doubt one single person has ever looked at a candy cane and without deliberation thought that it represented an American flag.

Is represent the same as being a flag? You mentioned the flag code which I don't think covers a representation of a flag, just the actual flag.

My post to which you originally responded contained only three sentences.

I am repeating one of them here for you since you seem to not have read it before responding.

According to the Flag Code, a flag is a flag or anything "by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag."

Sounds like it's more subjective then anything, anything that's 'looks' like a flag to you is a flag. Where as I think most can tell the difference between an American flag and a candy cane. The Obama link shows red and white striles, no flag.

Not a flag by any stretch of the imagination - simply bunting which all patriotic events use.

So, the party that tried so so hard to have a "green" convention wasn't practicing what it preaches.

Maybe the flags were made on recyclable material...
