Let's see if the Democratic Party is smart enough to use this effectively.
    I doubt it.....

One reason I'm in favor of the line item veto. I think it's time we stop letting the "riders" hold us hostage.

I would like a rebate check as much as the next person but this stimulus package is nothing if not legalized vote buying by incumbents.

Does anyone think this bill is going to fix our economy?

Do we have a surplus in the budget where we can give money back?

Are we going to cut government spending in any way because of the lost revenue?

This entire bill is nothing but a way for incumbents to go back home and brag to the voters about how they got them paid.

    Correct.

IMO, it will do more harm than good.

Not only is there not a surplus, but there is a budget deficit without even factoring in the cost of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    Social programs - yes.
    Defense spending - no.

Regards, hope you and yours are well,

    The Democrats caved.............once again.
Is it any wonder Congress has such low approval ratings?

Until the Democrats get rid of their leadership, they are going to lose the Legislative branch. They should have forced the GOP to run against their record of endless filibusters, but they apparently aren't smart enough to do that.
