    I totally agree with Crabtownboy's concept of non-profit health insurances. Okay, you're not obliged to subscribe to that insurance, but functioning in a non-profit way for its subscribers would be a great, and clean way.

    Sorry, but you are wrong. I guess you simply love big industry and hate little people. Funny thing for a follower of Chrsit to think thus. I know of now place where Christ taught anything like you stance ... but I know of a number of place where he taught that we are to help the poor, the blind, the helpless. I know, I know ... we will get another frantic rant from you on this.

    There is no excuse to cut benefits to the poor and legal aliens simply to enrich the already rich executives of insurance companies.

    Is your maxim "take from the poor and give to the rich?"

    Oh, oh ........ here comes the rant. :laugh:

    Sure, you guys want to limit their pay, but not their liability.

    I think we should lower their taxes, get the government restrictions out of the way, and let them compete for our business. That, along with TORT reform will do a lot more to reduce health care costs than making doctors and insurance companies operate pro-bono.

    I see you are goading me to try and fight again, and putting words into my mouth, and throwing Christ around in order to make me look bad. Quite dishonest of you, but I am finding that that's what you do when you have no answers.

    I'll ask again, what benefits are being cut, and where are the republicans voting to "stick it to the poor" ?

    When a person takes a stand that is not in line with the teaching of Christ it is not inappropriate to point that out.

    We do not have the exact wording of his amendment. It may not have been released to the public by the committee. I have not been able to find it online. But I did find an interesting tidbit that may help explain why Grassley is so interested in insurance company profits.

    It does appear that Grassley owes the health insurance industry.

    CTB is using this thread to point out "evildoers"--they are:
    • Companies that make a profit. That's bad.
    • Insurance companies. They are inherently evil.
    • Republicans, for their horrible suggestion of personal responsibility...and their even worse idea that people here illegally are breaking the law and shouldn't be given a free ride.
    • Anyone exercising any form of free choice. Individual freedom is bad. It should always defer to the needs of "the public."
    This summary is a public service of those who still desire a modicum of common sense, individual liberty, and personal responsibility.

    I have no problem with a for profit company making a profit. But to make additional profits at the expense of the poor is not Christian nor is it ethical.


    The companies are not evil in and of themselves ... they are just doing what any for profit company will do, try to increase profits.



    Note, the amendment is about cutting benefits to legal aliens, not illegal aliens. And to me any congressman or senator, regardless of their party, who advocates taking from the poor and legal aliens and giving it to corporations is not doing the public a good service.

    The poor and especially people on Medicare have no freedom of choice when it comes to health care. To my mind, to cut their benefits to enrich an industry that is already making a profit is not Christian. It may be good politics for those who receive campaign donations and good for the bottom line of the company, but it certainly is not good for the people who are insured.

    Questioning the salvation of a member due to a question of "secular" politics will not be tolerated.
