The only elections I recall as not having debates was 1964, 1968, and 1972. I think the last two can be attributed to Nixon's experience in 1960 with Kennedy. I do not know why 1964 was skipped. Looking back, Carter would have been much better off cancelling the 1980 debates.

Thanks for the reply, but I have to say Obama has done more than any other president to keep the abortion mills employed. Maybe no laws have been changed but Planned Parenthood and the like are flourishing under Obama and Katherine Sabelias (sp). Remember Obama said " If my daughter gets pregnant as a teenager I don't want them to have to pay for that mistake." WOW, I cannot vote for anyone with that mindset. Also you didn't mention the other social issue of gay marriage. Obama once again has done more to promote homosexual issues than any other candidate ever. As a Christain how can you agree with his stance on this issue. The DNC is going to lift high the gay banner at their convention this week, not sure why any Christian would be OK with that. IMO

Not sure I agree with Romney and Ryan not wanting to help the poor. I feel as most conservatives that there are people who cannot help themselves and need benefits. Whereas there are ones who abuse the system and they need to be identified and removed from welfare and other social entitlements.

Come on Crabby, you must turn from the dark side and vote your Christian conscience this November. :love2:

I know this first sentence will raise some hackles, but so be it ... I do not agree with abortion but Planned Parenthood also does help others in areas I approve of, like cancer screening through the Susan G. Komen foundation. Lives are saved and that is good.

Planned parenthood is like all organizations, some good aspects some bad. That is life.

Yes there are some who abuse the system. That is true of any system. Banks abused the system and brought on disaster for many people in 2008. But we will not outlaw banks because of the abuse of some, especially some very large banks.

Helping the poor is seen as good often in the Bible, both in the OT and in the NT. We can try to ignore this, but it is always there ... and it is prominent in the Final Judgment scene in Matthew. As an aside, there is nothing about abortion in the Final Judgment. This is not a defense of abortion, just acknowledging that it is not present in the Final Judgment.

I understand your sentiment, but being a Christian involves much more than being against abortion. Abortion is an emotional issue. It is also a safe issue. It demands nothing of us other than to be against it. How many on the board who are so adamantly against abortion would be willing to adopt a baby carried to term by a single-mother who does not want to keep the baby?

How many on the board are willing to have laws passed and enforced making it mandatory for men who father such babies to support the mother and child financially? Too many men, and I believe some on this board want no responsibility imposed on them or on other man in these instances.

    Other issues, like helping the sick, the poor, the prisoner may well involve us in our time, money and activities. I feel that is one reason so many people avoid the social issue of helping others. {That is very gently said.}

I am not sure that Romney is really anti-abortion. He certainly stood strongly for it when he was governor of Massachusetts. Frankly, from all the issues he has flipped on I have come to believe he is a political chameleon and has no loyalty to any idea/belief if he feels it will not help him be elected.

I do think that Ryan, because of his Catholic background, is anti-abortion.

Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back! Planned Parenthood was organized for the purpose of Eugenics and that is a fact. For the curious look up Margaret Sanger!

That is a crock! Furthermore it is stupid in my opinion. Have you stood before the Great White Throne yet? I thought not. How will you respond when God reminds you:
Matthew 18:10. Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

Denying them life is certainly despising them. And again:

    Proverbs 6:16-19
    16. These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
    17. A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
    18. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
    19. A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

I will not go into all seven but consider #3:hands that shed innocent blood,

By your support of the democrat party, the party of Marx, perverts, and death, you have sanctioned the death of more than 50,000,000 unborn babies.

That is an outright falsehood! Obviously it demands nothing from you since you support abortion.

My wife and I have, twice! And they have given us four of our six wonderful grandchildren, the blessing of old age. So don't get preachy and sanctimonious Crabbie. It is not becoming of you, Just continue in your hard hearted fashion.

That is a terribly indictment of your brothers in Jesus Christ. Does it perchance reflect your heartfelt views: Women are to be used and then they and their fruit cast aside?

He is more anti abortion than you! That is for certain!

I am 81 years old Crabtownboy but when you, a professing Christian, make remarks like you have in the above post I am sick at my stomach!

Frankly that is not appropriate for a Christian, in my humble opinion!

    Crabby,

Just because PP does some good should never outweigh the evil they do. IMO. It is like saying an adult porn shop helps men with ED.

Me and my wife did adopt a girl from a single mother and we also did foster care for several kids. I think most of the issues you raise on abortion are valid and most in here probably agree, but voting for a candidate who is clearly pro abortion has to eat at your stomach Crabby.
Come on over to the Right side Crabby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
