The United States must either stop accusing Russia of meddling in its elections or prove it, a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was "indecent" of the United States to "groundlessly" accuse Russia of intervention in the US election campaign, Russian state news agency Tass reported.
"They should either stop talking about that or produce some proof at last. Otherwise it all begins to look unseemly," Peskov reportedly said about the latest accusations that Russia was responsible for hacker attacks.

What about it Mr. Obama?

I just watched President Obama's "Final News Conference".

Everyone should watch it. He offered no evidence at all for the alleged Russian meddling in our election.

He blamed the press and the general public for coming to certain conclusions and broadcasting those conclusions without a completion of the analysis of alleged Russian meddlings.

Peskov's warning in the O/P did not single out any entity for disseminating any news fake or otherwise about the accusations of the Russian meddling.

I'll say it again FWIW, this path is a very dangerous path to be going down in such a public way.
It could lead to a renewal of the cold war (which we are inches away from already) or worse.

Obama will eat his words to Mr. Romney concerning Russia.
Everyone laughed at Romney back then.

The only person laughing now is Putin.

Putin has been publicly threatened by Obama.

If Obama did not get Putin's permission to do this (for what reason I don't know) Putin will perform his one-ups-manship and respond hopefully with words only.

It was encouraging though to see our sitting president stand up to Putin (if it was spontaneous and not staged).

Although I also remember the "Red Line" in the sand.

Both the CIA and the FBI have said that Russia meddled in our election. The President and several senators have said so as well. Trump doesn't believe it, but then again, he doesn't take intelligence briefings.

Difference that 30 years makes.

Reagan: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

Obama: "Mr. Putin, cut it out."

They both (CIA,FBI) may have been bribed and/or intimidated to issue misinformation

If not EVIDENCE PLEASE then we might consider it.

Hank,

Here is what I believe. Russia hacked the DNC, Hillary and the RNC and Trump computers. They published what they believe would help them, They are sitting on information that will be published when they believe it is to their advantage. i.e. to embarrass Trump or even worse to force him to hide and make decisions in their favor.

The World Cyber War is in play and we are only seeing the beginning of it.

We know someone hacked Iran's nuclear facility and by doing so ruined many of their centrifuges and seriously setting their program back. That may well be one thing that brought them to the negotiating table.

You are partially correct CTB. But... the info war was going on long before PC's Smartphones , email, etc...

While I was in the military (1960's) I worked in "Electronic Data Processing" in an Intelligence Unit on the Ballistic Early Warning System (BMEWS) line of defense, now defunct. The BMEWS went from upstate NY to Thule Greenland with connections via primitive telecommunications machines.

What we were told to tell anyone who asked us what we do - we watch the Russians watching us - and indeed we did and they did even then as now.

The left oriented press makes this out to be some kind of new horror show but it is as old as I am (even older if you can imagine that).

We (them and us) have been snooping, listening watching each other since WWII and it is no secret.
Many private citizens who have been hacked by the Kremlin know it, almost every military person knows it,
all politicians know it.

Actually IMO Kiev of the Ukraine, not so much the Russians, is the new (Kiev and Moscow IT people have a kind of alliance even though their governments hate each other) non-European spy capital.

http://www.rferl.org/a/ukraine-hacktivist-network-cyberwar-on-kremlin/28091216.html

They hacked my checking account about 3 years ago and stole several hundreds of dollars.

I have no doubt that they have hacked EVERY entity of any importance in the America's , Europe, Israel and even China.

The sheeple are being scared into a frenzy by those crying RUSSIAN WOLF!

But it's nothing new and we are doing the same to them (and our government is doing it to it's own citizens - IMO of course).

"...the United States is just as active in this space as the next government"

So yes we need to wake up and smell the proverbial coffee (both Russian and American roasts).

RealClearPolitics:

"Attorney General Loretta Lynch spoke at an event with Politico's Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman Thursday morning. there, she was asked about reports that Russian hackers could have impacted the results of the 2016 election. Lynch said that there was no evidence that Russian hackers breached the integrity of the U.S. election system.

“Fortunately we didn’t see the sort of technical interference that I know people had concerns about, also, in terms of voting machines and the like,” Lynch said.

So basically whatever hacking occurred was just a matter of exposing embarrassing emails between Democrat operatives, in particular John Podesta. Can't see how that would have given Trump the election. Seriously doubt if many people even bothered to read the leaks.

One of the main reasons Clinton lost, probably the main reason, is that reliable Democratic voters didn't go out and vote. This was true in all the swing states that Trump won that traditionally go Democratic. Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, etc.

There were plenty of Bernie Sanders voters that felt Clinton was a bad candidate. The constant drip, drip, drip of damaging emails just reinforced that idea. Millions of them likely stayed home.

Realize that it is mostly leftists that are saying Trump won because of Russian hacking and the only ones talking about reversing the election. The issue should be to find out exactly what happened so it can't happen again.

It's always good to have secure communications between government officials, we can probably all agree. But hacking really had little to do with the election results.

Obama brought in tons of voters who had little interest in electing HRC, and you are correct, many of them just stayed home this time around.

The thing is that Russia, Communism, Socialism and every other atheistic leftist nation and ideology that desires the oppression of the U. S. would be so much better served by a Clinton administration. It just doesn't make sense. It's fake news.

Oh, OK one more reason - Democrat Voters didn't go out and vote.

I think that makes about 10 but yours has the most probability of being true.

Why: They realized what a scoundreless Hillary probably is/was.
