Well, Ed. I was wondering. If there is no longer any male or female, are the wife or the husband of your mate?

To accept that, one has to suspend every other command God has given on the matter. She had no more civil authority than the NT prophetesses had of ecclesiastical authority. In fact, it was a dishonor to Barak that he would not go up against Sisera without her.

She was a prophetess, and the judgment she offered was the counsel of God. She did not rule.

Okay - so the judges were not rulers.

    I appreciate your insight.

Deborah wasn't, or if she were, it was a rebuke to Israel's sinfulness, Isa. 3:12. Barak was denied the honor of victory because he insisted that Deborah accompany him to battle against Sisera.

Either way you slice it, it isn't the place of women to have positions of authority.

Home, meaning marriage and the family. So it's not just in ecclesiastical governments that women may not have authority.

    Agreed?

    Agreed.

But political government's still not addressed.

edit: further defined...women still have authority in the home. Just not usurping the husband.

You were supposed to end that with, "Isn't that right, dear?"

    ;)

Do the governments of men have the freedom to enact legislation that would disrupt God's order in the home?

    of course.

doesn't mean we shouldn't obey God rather than men, though.

But, once again...government and women rulers isn't addressed.

No, they don't. Governments of men are responsible to govern righteously.

It most certainly is: Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God, Rom. 13:1.

Show me in that verse the prohibition of women ruling. It's not there.

It says the powers that be are ordained of God. This does not mean that every ordinance of man is a righteous ordinance and must be obeyed. It means the institution of civil government itself is ordained by God, and the only legitimate governments are those that govern according to God's law. Those governments that do not so govern are assuming power that is not ordained to men.

God speaks to civil government here. Every soul, even the magistrates, are to be subject to the higher powers. God, of course, being the blessed and only potentate, the Highest Power, and His Law, the supreme Law of the Land.

    Good so far?
