if it is not praising men, selfishness, or worldly living. then it isn't wrong.

i wouldn't listen to it personally because what really matters is "what is the motive?"

The Song That Never Ends - is just plain wrong and I hope I never hear it again.

I think it depends on the song.

"Jesus take the wheel" is secular, but a good one.
So is "Broken Road"

and Brad Paisley's "when I get where I'm going"
Brooks and Dunn's "red letter bible"

Alan Jackson's "Remember When"

They are secular, but not wrong

Doesn't mean I'm going to sing them in church. Well, I might sing "when I get where i'm going"

I used to go to a church where the pianist would play "time in a bottle" for the offeratory everyonce in a while.

jch-singer asked:

Is it right or wrong?

Well, that's a little bit over-generalized, isn't it?

Food: Like it, or not?

Just because it's secular doesn't mean it's wrong. Just because it's secular means that it doesn't belong in the worship service, but it's not necessarily wrong. I like jazz and big band instrumental stuff. I think that's great stuff! It's secular, but it's not wrong.

I do have to agree with Gib about The Song That Never Ends!

I voted "no", but wish there would have been a "sometimes" vote, as there is a "sometimes" vote even with Christian music.

but then you gotta look at the reason why its called secular...

secular wants God out. thats why they call it secular.

im not going to label a whole album secular.

it depends on the song

You can take this for what it's worth. :Fish:

Secular

Definition:

1. not concerned with religion: not controlled by a religious body or concerned with religious or spiritual matters
-secular education

2. not religious: not religious or spiritual in nature
-secular music

Actually, that's not what secular means.

Examples of secular songs:

"Happy Birthday to you"
"Jingle Bells"
"Three Blind Mice"

These are wrong?

The poll is too simplistic to answer and consequently isn't any good. I won't be voting. Try again with a better question, JCH

You forgot:

Hell's Bells
Mr. Crowley
It's The Devil I Love
... and many more

You're right, the question is too vague. Some secular music is extremely bad. Some secular music isn't so bad at all.
