Kerry is a traitor and it has nothing at all to do with his military service.

...But what does it mean to protect the constitution? Does it merely mean that we ensure the parchment remains safely preserved in the National Archives? Or does the oath signify something more tangible?

Did Kerry serve in the military or not? Did he actually go to Viet Nam or not?

It means to govern this nation as the Constitution says, unlike today.

Are you just naturally dense or do you have to work at it.

    Read my post again, JG.

So then would you say that those who have taken that oath, have failed to protect the constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic?

I would say that some have purposely not kept their oath, and other, just interpret their duties differently than you and I would.

If you are referring to politicians, without a doubt I agree with you. For our military, it is another story entirely. These guys and gals are putting up their lives for us. The self indulgent slobs in Washington are stealing from us and getting a lock on their power.

Prior to 11 Sep many only joined the Army for Education, a pay check, and like myself - a legal way to run away from home.
So until about Sep 04 we still had many who joined never thinking about war.

When I joined (during Vietnam) there were many who really did not want to uphold the Constitution. In fact, in my training unit of about 120 guys (At Atlanta Army Depot) we were assigned to Vietnam. We were given a two week leave. About ten did not show up. The irony of this is that after we arrived at Oakland Army Base for shipment to Nam, about 95% of us were diverted to Germany!

I am not saying every military member is perfect. I saw much of the same thing. However, it is a small percentage, not the approaching 100% of the thieves in Washington who do any and everything other than defending the Constitution. They use the Constutition as a license to steal.

In my training unit of about the same number of Marines, every one with orders for RVN (virtually 100%) showed up.

The difference may have been that, like today, we were all volunteers. No draftees at that time.
