Sheehan's Relatives Disagree With Her

I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.

I want to give Mrs. Sheenan the benefits of the doubts because grief does terrible things to people, and I can't imagine the emotional pain she is going through - having lost her son.

That said - I expect my President to accomplish certain things during his term in office, and to be looking over the important issues facing our country. He cannot do that if he starts having private meetings with everyone who wants to ask him "why" or "how" everytime they feel an urge to.

How long would the line to the White House be if every citizen in America who had a question for the President got in it?

Laura Bush Joins Cindy Sheehan(<-linkie)
CRAWFORD, TEXAS (AP)—The protest by Cindy Sheehan against the Iraq war outside of the ranch of President George W. Bush grew much more complicated on Friday as the grieving mother was joined by First Lady Laura Bush and Senator Hillary Clinton who both now oppose the unjust and illegal US war in Iraq.

As the war casualties mount and such protests increase in size amid dwindling public support, President George W. Bush was forced to take a helicopter over the thousands of protestors to travel to and from his ranch. Bush still refuses to meet with Sheehan and now he refuses to meet with his wife and Clinton also.

<snip>

Bush is now travelling solely by helicopter when he leaves the ranch in an effort to avoid racing past his wife and other protesters in a limousine. Support for Bush's handling of the conflict has dropped to as little as 3 per cent of people surveyed according to a recent poll conducted for Newsweek magazine.

<snip>

At a recent news conference, Bush said he strongly disagrees with those calling for troop withdrawal. "Pulling the troops out would send a terrible signal to the oil and currency markets. We are trying to get as much oil out of Iraq as possible and shovel multibillion dollar reconstruction contracts to Republican firms. We are also trying to make sure that they don’t sell their oil in Euros or some other non-American currency to keep the dollar from plunging.”

<snip>
Yes, I know, but Joseph does it all the time.

Daisy, how is your link to newshounds a counter-link? It doesn't dispel the fact that Sheehan's family is not in agreement with her. All it says is that people are fed up with Hannity and Colmes doing spots on the Holloway case, and little to no time on Sheehan.

The link really doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know, and it really doesn't have anything to do with the topic of this thread.

BTW, your 2nd post had me going for a minute. I can't repeat all of the bad thoughts that were running through my mind about Laura Bush "back-stabbing" her husband, that is, until I read the last little "quote" from President Bush.

Shame on you for tricking me.

Drudge misleads again!
You notice it was a Godmother and a cousin but
then they lead you to believe it is a whole
mass of relatives.
...the worm who is propagating
this is not even an investigative journalist
operatives feed him stuff and he uses his yellow
style to repeat it and parrot it ...well guess what people have held back on this maggot for years and he has a lifestyle that is perverse. More will coming out on drudge he just has to cruise and do weird things in foreign land..he does love to travel.

Yeah drudge is scum and I would tell it to his
face for what he does...and if he did not apologize for his attack on Cindy Sheehan the
chicken hawk wimp would be stuffed into a trash
can where he belongs.

APAL,

You said:

Actually, I didn't notice that because the letter actually reads this way.

Our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy we are breaking our silence and we have collectively written a statement for release. Feel free to distribute it as you wish. Thanks, Cherie
In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford, Texas, issue: Sheehan family statement:

The Sheehan family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan family supports the troops, our country, and our president, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins .
That's a bit more than a Godmother and a cousin. (In fact, where did you get Godmother from anyway?) It looks as if you are the one attempting to mislead folks, rather than reading the article fully and posting accurate information.

Her family's views are every bit as relevant as those of Mrs. Sheehan's.

I wonder where her husband is and what his views are? He sure is being quiet while his wife is being used by Leftist anti-war groups to push their political agenda.

I heard a clip from an interview of Mrs. Sheehan on I think it was MSNBC where she stated that she hoped President Bush wouldn't meet with her because it would stop the momentum.

I guess we know what Mrs. Sheehan's political agenda is now.

Why don't you post header of the letter
of it Bro.

The following email was received by the DRUDGE REPORT from Casey's aunt and godmother:

you left that part out ..but that's okay ...Drudge
is not going to provide the letter or signatures
now is he...you just take his word because he
is a trusted...what ever he is ..most say a
noise machine to hurt people...well guess what
I am taking on the bully..and I have explained
about 4 different times now ..so no more...
there is a time for this and a time for that
and for me it is a time to take on a bully.

Mck if you want to pray for Matt Drudge by all
means post a prayer request for him in the prayer
topic and pray that he repent from his perverted
life style.

and good for those who defend him that is your
right but I see it and discern it differently
a mother who lost a son should not be shown the
ditch regardless of political position and she
should not be attacked by a non journalist who
only gets fed lies to parrot and put out a political hit on this mother...I promise you
it would only take bush 3 minutes to actually
go and meet with this lady and have a private
meeting and she can ask her questions which are
legitimate by the way ..since the downing street
memos and lack of wmd..she has a legitimate gripe
when bush has changed his story on Iraq so many
times.

he could actually fast and sacrifice an hour of
his two hour workout..now that would be a big
sacrifice on his part.

so if people are actually going to listen to
drudges voice ..I think it is important to
actually hear Cindys voice.

tracking a lie

Still putting out the O'Reilly fires of me being a traitor and using Casey's name dishonorably, my in-laws sent out a press statement disagreeing with me in strong terms; which is totally okay with me,because they barely knew Casey. We have always been on separate sides of the fence politically and I have not spoken to them since the election when they supported the man who is responsible for Casey's death. The thing that matters to me is that our family -- Casey's dad and my other 3 kids are on the same side of the fence that I am.

</font>[/QUOTE]No, it was her son that died. Still, what is the point? Are you saying that because some of her family hold a differing viewpoint, hers is somehow less valid? That this means she should not protest or demand answers from her President? Again WHAT IS THE POINT?

I love the editorial cartoon in today's Denver Post. It has Bush in a Saddam-like spider hole on his ranch, asking "Is she gone yet?"

Just shows that she is a very petty person. She "disowned" her family because of an election. She is so moronic. I hope it rains on her as she walks in the ditch. :D

How many times will he have to meet with her before it is enough for her? He's already met with her once before. If she wasn't satisfied then, which it appeared she was, then she won't be satisfied now.

I think she's gearing up to run for office. What do you think?

What is your point? Are you saying that unless someone has a child who died in Iraq that his/her view doesn't count? If so, I disagree. My viewpoint, and yours, count for every bit as much in this democratic republic as that of Cindy Sheehan's.

Maybe she can be Hillary Clinton's running mate in 2008. What a pair that would make! It would be an anti-war Leftist's political dream come true.

So says Mrs. Sheehan. Why should we believe her? She has established no credibility as of yet that we should trust her about anything in the political realm which she has inserted herself into.

Okay. My point is that there are relatives who obviously knew Casey and who obviously know Mrs. Sheehan. I think that they have just as much of a right to express their viewpoint about the war in Iraq as does Mrs. Sheehan, as do you, as do I.
