An Iraqi TV reporter threw his shoes at the President during a press conference with the Iraqi president in Baghdad. Bush ducked and was uninjured. MSNBC has video. CNN's coverage is HERE. I am glad that it wasn't something worse. Bush is taking his life in his hands going there, even behind security.

Seems I remember reading or beng told that throwing a shoe at someone in an Arab country is the greatest insult you can show to that person.

This makes me so :BangHead:

I am so sick of people who show such little respect for others...Our President deserves better. Thank God most Iraqis are not like this nut. Praying for his safety... Thank you Jesus for President Bush!!!!!!

If that were truly the case...wouldn't terrorists be tossing shoes at us?

Just sayin'...

I wonder if conservatives, even on this board, will start showing some respect for President-elect Obama.

Bush also stated that the Iraq war was not over, obviously he was right but on the other hand if they are resorting to throwing shoes then we have to be mighty close to an end.

Agreed, he's still our president and should be treated as the most powerful leader in the free world. I'm just glad Bush was able to duck the size 10 or we may have an international incident on our hands.

==Ken, as you well know I am a conservative and I do and will continue to show respect for Mr. Obama because the Bible commands me to do so. However don't hold your breath waiting for all conservatives to take that position. Sadly politics has blinded many conservatives to the fact that their behavior is often no better than that of the liberals and, worse yet, unBiblical.

As for the shoe thrown at the President, so what? In a world of real news it would have gotten about 1 minutes worth of coverage. The President was not in any danger and the secret service handled the situation the way they should have. Sadly the 24-hour gossip media will spend the next few days replaying the event over and over again trying to find a story where none is.

Is throwing a shoe different from removing your sandal and giving it to someone to confirm an agreement as in Ruth 4:7 when the near kinsman gave his sandel to Boaz?

To be fair, the terrorists don't want to insult us. They want to kill us.
