Don't you believe Scripture is sufficient.? All I need is in Christ and scripture. Only men corrupt perfection.

I think it depends on how one views them, as study tools acceptable, but not as when some seem to use them on same par as scriptures, to claim we must be in obedience to what they teach to be orthodox!

Do you use any bible study tools, and if so, have you always agreed with their points?

The way I learn about scripture is reading it and praying about it. The Holy Spirit is my instructor. Church is where I started and still appreciate Yet everything I hear I compare with scripture to make sure it is right. If it's not right I disregard it

So you do not use any other books then the Bible to aid in understanding scriptures?

Specifically what do I disagree with on them?

I have actually been pro confession since 1987 (at least) so you must have known me before that time

A confession is nothing more than a statement of truth concerning scripture - much like a sermon only more condensed and codified

I also catechised my children w Spurgeons and parts of others esp the WCF in regards to the Doctrine of God and Christ

A confession is admitting guilt and moving on. Sounds like a confession for truth turns confession into something it is not.

Dictionaries. I like reading what others believe so I can understand there thinking and why they believe what they do. I was taught about the Bible by my parents and Sunday school teachers. But as I grew up I came to realize I could learn more from scripture than from any other way.. I rarely go any where with out my Bible.

It's really more a statement of faith than a confession. I confess Christ. I do not confess to Man.

Confession - this is what I believe that the Bible teaches about _________.

It is NOT a confession of sin per se.

The drafters of the 2000 BFM assured us that it was NOT "a creed", and NOT "a binding or governing document on Southern Baptist churches and their members"!

    Baptist Press June 14, 2000
    Baptist Press June 14, 2000

"In answer to debate coming from the floor, members of the study committee repeatedly defended the preamble, as well as the entire document, as a statement of belief and not as a binding or governing document on Southern Baptist churches and their members."

"Committee members cautioned the press against misunderstanding...noting that the convention's vote is not binding on local churches. 'We don't have the right, the authority or the power'...[Adrian] Rogers noted....'It is not a creed. It is a statement of what most of us believe'."
