Under the same legal theory that some felons are denied some privileges. You also want legally blind people driving cars?

I'm guessing that since he's been in and out of courts with this issue since 1994 there is more going on than meets the eye.

My opinion? Give the man his guns back! If he shoots himself again, well, that is his business, not mine. Where does the Constitution say we need to be protected from ourselves?

As long as he isn't my neighbor, but why would a blind man even want a gun. Why doesn't he do something more sensible, like raising rattlesnakes.

The constitution does not forbid someone who has been convicted of a felony to own a gun either. That is another constitutional right that has been stripped away from people. In fact in Texas it is legal for a convicted felon to own a gun but the feds override that freedom.
When we allow the government to strip away another's freedom or right you can bet that yours is next.
