I listen mainly to gospel music, although I do have some Lawrence Welk music and other old music like that. I love southern gospel music--especially quartets. Right now I'm listening to children from "The Children's Bible Hour", who are in Michigan. They've used children for several decades for music and ministering to other children. I bought 12 of their 33 1/3 records many years ago, and another album of other children; I put them on cassette tapes that have lasted me for many years. I have over 150 33 1/3 records. There are some things that cannot be improved on, in my opinion. I also like non-gospel music from the 1950's and earlier.

I'm currently going back and forth between listening to James White and Chris Pinto debate the origin and nature of the Codex Sinaticus and listening to a band from the 70s called Jo Jo Gunne.

Now there ya go....havent heard that in a long time.

Ask any kid if they know it.

My grandson recognizes Whipping Post when it starts to play. He'll be four next week.

Galadrielle Allman was two when her father died. She just published a book Please Be with Me: A Song for My Father, Duane Allman. I sent a copy to my oldest brother - also a ABB fan- for his birthday yesterday.

JohnDeereFam- where you getting all this music? I'm got to give it a listen.

Just a big music fan, I guess. I've got a pretty large collection from all genres.

Been collecting for about thirty-five years.

I come from a very musical family. My dad was a professional musician for a couple of years, my mom played on a local TV show, my grandmother was our town's piano and violin teacher, my sister was a professional musician, and so music was always a big deal to me.

Didn't hurt when I inherited a couple thousand when a friend, who was PD of a radio station got fired and robbed them blind on the way out the door. His wife gave him an ultimatum: either they go or she goes. So, he gave me all of his records. Unfortunately, she left him anyway, but I digress.

Right now, listening to:

Connie Smith - Tiny Blue Transistor Radio
Pokey Lafarge - La La Blues
Warner Mack - "Talkin' To the Wall"
Rhett Butler - "Cliffs of Dover"

The tone he gets out of his guitar is gorgeous. I think it's a Collings.

Vinyl?

I had a Marantz 1515 receiver, 1060 amp, 50's vintage Gerrard turntable and ancient Jensen speakers back in the day. I think it was only 30 watts per channel but it was loud enough to get Mama to walk up two flights of stairs to yell at me to turn it down. Played everything from Bach to Van Halen. I have no idea where any of the components ended up. I left them in my room when I went into the Army. :flower:
