Very true. I agree that anyone that votes for someone that supports abortion is just as guilty of the sin of murder as the abortion doctor is.

You apparently thought the reluctance of the SBC pastor to take the Atlanta transit was racist. Perhaps he was just prudent. A little consistency goes a long way.

I do not see how you read that into Matt 15:3-4. I do not read that Jesus was mad. Try reading the scripture in context and not adding weird thoughts to it.

What does Jesus Christ mean when HE states in Mark 6:11:

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Matt, you always find a way to crack me up!...

    :wavey:

We have to love everyone.. "Love thy neighbors"... Everyone that is a citizen of this world is our neighbor... Christ made this clear when he was teaching against prejudice against the Samaritans.

Do I hate what some do? OR COURSE.. but I wouldn't want them burning in Hell for eternity... If a person truly wants a person to burn in Hell, they are not saved. Can't be.. they don't have the love of Christ in them.

He went into a long rant against them, calling them hypocrites, called them out for not following a commandment of God, said that Esaias was right about them, offended them, basically said their worship was meaningless, called them blind leaders who will fall in a ditch, etc. I fail to see how it is "weird" to assume that he was a little mad with all this in mind. I seriously doubt Jesus said alot of this stuff with no emotion.

I believe you are right saying that Jesus showed emotion. He also showed a great sense of humor.

I have been told that the Greek indicates that Jesus screamed at Peter when he said, "Get thee behind me satan ..............

From Strong's on the word Jesus used:

    4) to tax with fault, rate, chide, rebuke, reprove, censure severely
    a) to admonish or charge sharply

He means that we are to witness to people, but if they don't accept the Gospel they will spend eternity in hell.

What does that have to do with hating someone?

Curtis, the explanation is in verse 28:

Jesus did not call this woman a dog out of hate. He was talking tongue in cheek and illustrating the behaviour of the Jews in that day and time. He knew very well what her response was going to be. The verses 22-28, in total, show us that He came not just for the Jew, but for all that have faith regardless of their station in life.

Unless they lived in Asia. (Acts 16:6) He didn't want to preach to Gentiles and Samaritans either. (Matthew 10:5-6) Jesus told the disciples on two different occasions that he was only there for the lost sheep of Israel.

And just before ascending to heaven he said "Go ye into all the world............"

    Did he change his mind.

How do you reconcile the two passages?

==No, I am just paying attention to the actual words and context of the verses. You are reading all sorts of things into a passage. Romans 12:9 says nothing about hating people. I would also add that your understanding of the verse is also refuted by verses 14-21 of the same chapter (and Matt 5:43-44). Having said that I'm certain you are not about to change your mind.

==What did Jesus say? Love your enemies. Even those who persecute and do physical violence to you (Matt 5:38-48). What did Paul say? Don't be overcome by what is evil but by what is good (Rom 12:14-21). What is good? Love is good. We must love our neighbor (Rom 13:8-10, Lk 10:29-37). So according to Scripture we are to love all sinners. We are not to love their sin, we are to hate it, but we are to love them. Why? Because we are told to and because they were created in the image of God.

==Sorry, but you are wrong on this point.

Verse 21 tells me he departed from the Pharisees. His disciples don't show up until verse 23. I am not saying you are wrong, but he left her without a word, at first. I think he was testing her faith. There doesn't seem to be any Pharisees around, in this episode.

My point is, there are folks who would have called him hateful & racist, had they not witnessed the whole thing. I am not pretending I agree with some statements here, about hate, and my challenge on the word hasn't even been addressed, but I also say people accuse others of hate as a first response. The O/P is a prime example.

I can see your point. We do need to get the whole story on issues before we form a conclusion. In my defense, I haven't accused anyone of hate. I've only pointed out to the person that said they did hate Obama that it was wrong.

If you hate Obama, then you have to hate Bush. If you love the guy, you must love Bush. They are two sides of the same coin.

I didn't know either of them have been minted into coins yet. Wouldn't be bad though-- "Bush or Obama" instead of "heads or tails."

That is sheer nonsense. There is no way that these two men are comparable.

    1. Bush was pro life --- obama is rabidly pro abortion.

    2. Bush defended the 2nd amendment --- obama wants to limit our right to bear arms.

    3. Bush spent too much money --- obama makes Bush look like a piker.

    4. Bush was against homosexual marriage --- obama is ambivalent.

    5. Bush was in favor of school vouchers --- obama is against school vouchers.

    6. Bush recognized the need for more oil and nuclear energy --- obama is against both, and there are 243 million oil burning cars on the road.

    7. Bush unfortunately expanded medicare to include perscription drugs --- obama wants a socialist health care plan.

    8. Both Bush and obama are wrong on immigration policy.

    10. Bush did not associate with leftists and terrorists --- obama’s close associates were marxist Jeremiah Wright, racketeer Tony Rezko, and terrorist Bill Ayers.

    11. Bush put strict constructionists on the Supreme Court --- Obama will put leftists who want to throw the Constitution out and use European precedent.

    12. Bush wanted to privitize a part of Social Security --- obama is against privitization of Social Security.

13 Bush was for a strong military --- obama has cut the military budget and is against the missile defense system.

My thanks to matt wade for most of obama's views in the above list.
