Principles, sir. Your premise was that Christ does not condone capital punishment. Scripture shows that God (Christ) intends to eternally torture those who aren't found in the book of life ("torture" may be a bit strong; but here's the point: eternal punishment. And if eternal misery in a lake of fire isn't comparable to capital punishment, then we have differing views on the definition).

So now the onus is on you to show that Christ doesn't condone capital punishment. Paul, you must remember, claimed to have the revelation (Galatians 1:12), and subsequently wrote the passage regarding the government being the agent of God's wrath; AFTER Christ's death and resurrection.

Perish the thought that any should take joy from the death of criminals; but perish more so the thought that we would disobey God's Word because we prefer not to obey the "distasteful" things.

 

So will any "bleeding heart" liberal volunteer to put up Charles Manson for a week or two when he gets out on parole?
