Social Security Fund Will Run Dry Next Year

Naturally the GOP is opposing any fixes.

The 11 million Americans who receive Social Security disability face steep benefit cuts next year, the government said Wednesday, handing lawmakers a fiscal and political crisis in the middle of a presidential campaign.

The trustees who oversee Social Security and Medicare said the disability trust fund will run out of money in late 2016. That would trigger an automatic 19 percent cut in benefits, unless Congress acts.

The average monthly benefit for disabled workers and their families is $1,017. The typical beneficiary would see a reduction of $193 a month.

Medicare lost some 700 billion dollars to Obamacare so this story comes as no shock to us senior citizens, the majority of whom are now Republicans for the first time since the Great Depression.

Your source's title is intentionally misleading.

The security fund has run out of money before, requiring the government to redeem millions in IOU's to the security trust fund.

None of this has anything to do with your assertion.

Your source is referring only to to the disability fund and it's no wonder. Millions more are using it now than when Obama took office. The program is rife with fraud from people using it as a substitute for unemployment payments.

It is up to the Justice Department to bring it back in line. They're not interested in anything but fictitious civil rights violations. SS disability fraud is beneath their notice.

Your source's title is intentionally title is misleading. ...

Crabby, read the very first line of the article you quoted.

Will you admit, that Carpo was correct in stating that your title is misleading?

In fairness, it's not his title.

But it is a typical Huffpo title. They are often misleading or outright lies.

But it is also doubtful Crabby even read anything past the title.

But right below the headline - is the "sub-headline"

The trustees who oversee Social Security and Medicare said the disability trust fund will run out of money in late 2016. That would trigger an automatic 19 percent cut in benefits, unless Congress acts.
(note: bold - my emphasis)

Crabby did not tell the WHOLE truth.
Would this come under, "A partial truth is a full lie"?

Salty, are you always such a Pharisee on titles? I don't think so. The article made it clear it was Medicare. Be fair now ... or start correcting others where the title writer was not completely accurate.

The point is, and the topic should be about Medicare running out of money and the poor and sick will be harmed again. The GOP could fix this problem, but I expect they will kill any efforts to help these folk with poison pill amendments. [Yes, just call me cynical at this point.]

The GOP tried to fix this problem by voting against Obamacare. If you recall the facts correctly, Obamacare yanked $700,000,000 from Medicare.

There seem to be three solutions--1. sell more baby parts from aborted babies or 2. let the elderly die or 3. restore the money to Medicare that was taken by Obamacare.

What is your solution--aren't there death panels already in place?
