Socialism...American Style

In another thread I started in this forum the discussion has turned to Socialism and there seems to be some disagreement as to what it is and how it applies to what is currently going on in our country. This recent article from NewsWithViews columnist John Loeffler will clear up much of the confusion as far as I can tell. My personal take on the subject is that whenever the government is seen as "Big Brother" or the Provider for the huddled masses" we are already socialists...or headed that way quickly. You decide.....comments are welcome! here is the link:

Socialism works fine in families. Socialism works for American Indian tribes. Socialism worked fine for the Scandinavian countries until they were invaded by aliens. In other words, socialism works for small, unified populations.

The moral argument that we can finally solve poverty, pain, sickness, and hunger with “free” money seems just to good to be true. It usually is but it sells to the public. To fund these allegedly moral programs, the assets of the gentle citizens must be quietly taxed in the name of the public good.

Coercing the individual into sacrificing his labor and property for the greater good of the collective.

Socialism is collectivism.

See also...corporatism

We became a socialized nation the minute we accepted collectivism. So far we've sailed through corporatism and now we're heading straight for international socialism. The vehicle carrying us to our final member state destination is globalism.

The drivers of that vehicle are what we often refer to as democrats and republicans.

Hope that clears things up a bit. :)
