Things like the bloodly face of Jesus on the cloth may happen naturally, but this myth is suposedly Jesus gift to reward Veronica for trying to minister to Him.
HERE is some oi nformation on Veronoca's veil.

    Exactly.
The inspiration for anyone who claims faith in Jesus to make a movie about Him should be scripture, not false sources.

If I were Catholic I would really like the way the movie has led conservative evangelicals to accept my church's extra-biblical dogma as "not that big a deal."

What happens when we slowly accept false things as 'not that big a deal'? Before long they become accepted as maybe theres some truth in them. We don't know maybe it's true, and then it becomes a beleif. Just as in the Catholic church, eventually accepted as biblical truth with no biblical support. It can start or end with us.

Probably not, donnA. The vast majority of Christians (Catholics and Baptist alike), and even the non-churched people I know, who have seen this film, have a basic ability to discern. I don't have a problem with using dramatic license, and even other sources, where they do not directly conflict with direct scripture (as mentioned elsewhere, there are a few places where there appear to be scriptural contradictions, but they're somewhat minor, imo, and not any moreso that I've seen in nay other films, such as "Jesus of Nazareth", "The Prince of Egypt", "The Greatest Story Ever Told", and "The Ten Commandments". Most certainly, the 10C's is considerably more scripturally contradictory than the Passion. DOn't get me wrong, the 10C's is one of my all time favorite movies.

What we need to shy away from is elevating the use movies and media in replacement of scripture. So long as that line is not crossed, the concern of acceptng non-bilical things is somewhat minimal. Present, but minimal.

Murphy, I once searched out all such quotes and posted them in a passion thread and asked for explainations, especially since people were denying they exsisted, until I posted them. But no one responded. I think that was before you had seen the movie.

That would involve going back reading every thread about the passion movie. I did it once, got better things to do then read 20 whole threads 3 times. How about you go read all of them.

This is a debate forum - debate means two sides get to, well, debate.

Thanks for the reminder donnA that there is a supporter protected thread.

No Donna I don't care to. But I do suggest that you do or either retract your statement. I think that since you made the claim it is your obligation to show the proof.

</font>[/QUOTE]Yes this is a debate forum but it is sad when a thread such as this has to turn into a fight. It was started under the premise of "what do you like about it" and for the most part it has remained that. I would also like to know where this protected thread is, can someone tell me?

What fight? I merely stated my view that there are things I would like if I were Catholic. Is any disagreement a "fight?"

Murph, as far as Donna needing proof that some posted as to the total accuracy of the movie, I've seen the comments as well. Check back when the movie first came out, and the glowing reviews. The tone changed a little as some of the controversial stuff came to light later on.

It's obvious that "The Passion" has become a very "passionate" topic here.

Some here believe it's a tool sent from God to reach the lost, one of the best in... (fill in your favorite number here) ...years.

Others believe it's the skin of the truth filled with lies (Much script material taken from "another Gospel" and protrayed as truth by the filmmaker.)

Since we're all supposed to be Baptists here, and this is a debate forum, it seems logical to me that these folks with the differing views should be able to discuss their opposing viewpoints.

Instead I see the "Pro-Passion" folks accusing the "Anti-Passion" folks of speaking "vile" and "hate-filled" things about a movie that God uses to reach a lost world. The attitude is clearly that these folks are against God, not just the movie.

Just browsing the Pro-Passion thread makes it pretty obvious that if you don't support the movie, you're against God's work. What a position to be put in, when you're a Christian who loves God.

    Just my observations...
