Song of Solomon is scripture and should be read as the rest of the bible is read. We must trust God when reading any of scripture, or when our children who may fall under one of your catagories reads it. If it were bad God wouldn't have given it to us. I do think it is difficult to understand and may be beyond the understanding of a young child. For that reason I think if a child is going to read it it should be done with a parent to help them understand.

We surely shouldnt hide from it, but I didnt even begin to understand it unitl I was an adult. I mean, I knew what it was about, but it didnt become clear in its intent and application until fairly recently.

Someone voted for the option that Song of Solomon should not be in the Bible?

Goodness, what is the reasoning there?

Maybe they should tear those pages and any other pages they don't like from their Bible. Some people wouldn't have much of a Bible left.

Unfortunately limited to one option. .. I think as part of scripture one should study it and revisit it for more study at various times during our life. Like much of the rest of scripture understanding grows as we grow in Christ very rarely will one gain all there is to learn from it in one set of study.

    Regards
    Bob

I guess 2 people think they know better than the Holy Spirit.

The verse of SOS that I like the most is this:

    8:6
Love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as the grave.

My Lord loved me so much that he even died for me, while the wrath of the law was cruel as the grave.

    1:17
Our Bed is green, because He makes me lie down in green pasture. (Ps 23:2)

Well, I'm not one of the two btw, I did predict that someone would choose that option. Sorry for not having a "varied [multiple] liffespan" poll in there...

I like the book "Song of Songs" by Watchman Nee. Great book on Song of Solomon!

I don't get the reasoning of why someone would say SOS should not be in the Bible, either.

Another verse that I like in SOS:

    5:10
My beloved is white and ruddy!

He is as white as snow (Rev 1:14) because He is sinless ( 2 Cor 5:21)
but He is ruddy as well because He shed the Blood at the Cross.

I do respect both beliefs, but the basic is to follow the Holy Spirit after being born again.

Whether Holy Spirit guide us in contradiction to OT and Mosaic Law or not is to be studied. But the Bible was written by Holy Spirit.

Ceremonial Law was abolished as Crucifixion replaced the Sacrifices.

Practical Law may have to be kept according to the guidance by Holy Spirit.

But sometimes both are connected each other.

um, not to be on tangents, but does anyone not like the hymn "Lilly Of The Valley?" I still take the phrase literally as referring to a women, and yet the song is about Jesus....
