So you would rather have Sotomayor than Alito or Roberts? Please ...

Since I am not a racist, I don't think people's skin color should matter. The law is blind. Justice should not consider color.

Ms. Sotmayor didn't rule against white firefighters. She ruled in favor of the city. I thought that conservatives believed in local control and wanted the federal government to leave states and localities alone. I guess that conservatives are only in favor of local control when the local officials do things the way that conservatives agree with.

That doesn't even make sense. The firefighters were the ones who filed suit, and she ruled against them. That was an open and shut case. Many things before the courts are Solomonic baby-splitting matters. This one was not. It was a clear case and she for some inexplicable reason ruled the wrong way.

Not at all. You know better (even though you won't say it). People have rights and when the local government takes it away, someone needs to stand up for the individual. Sotomayor failed in a colossal way.

Then why did four of her fellow judges agree with the decision? Ms. Sotomayor didn't make this ruling alone.

Because they apparently share her view. (Was there some trick there?)

Conservatives have been talking like they think she made this decision all by herself and that no other judge agreed with her.

You apparently think socialism or Fascism are preferable to the failed policies of President Bush. Just which failed policies do you have in mind; keeping the country safe for 7 years?

    Wow ...

You should have no doubt. Unlike most here, I have put my money where my mouth is.

They are talking about her as a singular vote because those other concurring judges have not been nominated to be a Supreme Court Justice.... ......kinda thought that was an easy one. They don't mean that she acted alone. Hers is just the lone voice that is under scrutiny at this time. :flower:

Such arrogance! How do you know what most here do? And, what exactly did you do with you money that you are bragging about?

Doesn't it follow that a racist president would nominate a racist judge, or Attorney General?

We don't have a racist president currently...regardless of how many times some conservatives make such a false statement.

The more I see about Ms. Sotomayor, I believe she will make a fine SCOTUS Associate Justice. Once I saw the full context of her comments, I am comfortable with her nomination and confirmation. Unless something more damaging comes to light, I will urge my senators to confirm. Given that we had the foresight to put Democrats in the U.S. Senate, I expect they will act accordingly in support of the President's nominee.

Foolish comments about a "racist President" advance nothing, but demonstrate the heart of the person making the statement. But truly, keep it up, righties. You will NEVER win an election with the kind of hateful rhetoric that has practically destroyed the GOP.

There's nothing arrogant about it. Stop with your personal attacks. If you don't have something substantive to say, then say nothing.

    As will I.

The conservative movement, once grand with Ronald Reagan at the head, continues to go down the political toilet.
