Starting a New Baptist Association

If you were tasked with writing a new constitution for a new Baptist Association that would be made up of Southern Baptist Churches how would you handle the issue of doctrinal soundness in the Constitution?

I would take an historic Confession of Faith (London 1689, Philadelphia, New Hampshire) and use it rather than get into the picky divisiveness of applying it to issues that mean something TODAY but tomorrow may not be so important.
