A lot of this is stuff I agree on. I've seen way too many women do that with skirts, and far too many men too who walk around in pants so tight you can tell if they're wearing bikinis or briefs. (yes, women notice things too)
I used to wear a veil for my structured prayer time at home. It's how I feel most comfortable. I guess that's the equivalent of a man keeping his head uncovered.
But I'd never say it's a rule or anything other than a personal preference for me.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness we are told. So obviously I would not go in my work clothes :) you should see them. I go casual. What I am comfortable in.

Some fellowships I know of say that we should always wear suits or formal wear? Error I think. This is a can of worms post I reckon.

Although I am against youth worldliness dressing, which maybe is prevalent these days.

When I was a student in seminary, there was a mortician in our local church. He brought shoes, ties, suits and even dress shirts for the students, so they could dress appropriately for preaching engagements. I guess in those days, nothing short of a suit was suitable for the pulpit. Some habits remain.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I wouldn't either but I would say reverence is. How that is expressed may be different for each individual. And that should be as much a lifestyle as worship.

Today my "Sunday Best" will be a bit different. We just got 2' of snow and the roads are still not too good (and we have a snow emergency in our town). We postponed church to 4pm to give people time to clear out and for the town to work on the roads. SOOOOOO, today my "Sunday best" will be a nice pair of slacks, a sweater and snow boots. :)

The whole term "Sunday best" is completely subjective. What works for some might not work for others.

I've always struggled with the whole "suit and tie" standard for men. Ties are the most useless piece of clothing ever made, its just fancy (mostly) silk hanging uselessly.

The standard of "suit and tie" just doesn't fit most professional environments today. As I've mentioned dozens of times elsewhere, most of the professionals who attend our church will wear polos, slacks, khakis, button downs, loafers, etc to work.

This is perhaps the epitomy of a peripherial issue that can be pleasantly discussed but has no room for dogmatism.

When I was in college, we had a certain prof. who taught the men to preach. He would fail his students if they wore pink shirts or ties while preaching. He felt that it made the gospel of Christ look "sissy" if the men wore pink in the pulpit.

My "Sunday best" usually consists of comfortable khakis and a polo shirt. Seems to be the norm for the guys at my church. Sometimes if I am going to church straight from work, I'll be dressed in dress slacks, dress shirt and (maybe my) tie.
