hMM, liberals say that poor people cannot afford a picture ID. Well, if they are poor, then they probally qualify for Medicad - and they provide you with a FREE :tonofbricks: picture ID!

PS I just thought of something, if they did have to pay for a non-drivers license ID, then they wouldn't be able to pay their cable bill for the month:laugh:

Picture IDs should be provided through the use of taxpayer money, if necessary.

I bet some of those poor people can afford beer, cigaretts, vcr's, color tv's with remote, a pint of old english, or a joint. There is no such thing as not being able to afford a ten dollar ID.

Anyone who does not have an elitist mentality knows that such does exist. There are people in this nation that have to choose between necessities such as food and medicine every month.

There are so many goverment and private programs out there which will help. The problem is that many do not want to help themselves.

I don't care if they're provided by the government "free" to everyone, as long as they're required in order to vote.

I don't. And it makes no sense that a "Card-carrying libertarian" would.

The right to vote is discussed in the Constitution...thus, an ID could be considered a part of that (at least the case could me made).

There is no "right to drive" in the US. That is a privilege. We already make too many concessions in this area. (In Alabama, the DL test is offered in twenty languages--someone can get a license even if they can't read the road signs!) If someone wants the privilege to drive, let them pay for it.
