Swings in the Electoral College

    From 1964 until 1984, we went through some amazing extremes in the electoral college, with reversing parties. It is amazing that the mood could change in such a short period of time.

    For example, in 1964, the Republicans were badly defeated with only six states.

    Then, a short eight years later, look what Nixon did to McGovern, with 49 states.

    Forward to 1980, eight years later and watch Reagan trounce Carter.

    Then the super landslides ended with this 1984 result.

    Since the 1988 election, some have been decisive wins, but nothing like this twenty year period. Does anyone think one of these might happen in two weeks?
