"And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Vesture is clothing (something that covers). I can't really see Christ leading us in battle with his thigh exposed.

He had His 'coat of arms' written (embroidered) on his vesture (which covered his thigh).

"on his vesture AND his thigh"
I'm not pushing tattoos, just food for thought.

I can't see him exposing his thigh when we are told to dress modestly...

It's not a modesty issue. Settle down, I was only joking. I heard a preacher use that before to o.k. tattos.

This method of "deciding whether it is sin or not" is quite selective, subjective, and invective, as everyone, including you, is aware. That same reasoning can be applied to putting someone to death for gathering wood on the seventh day, for example. But I doubt if you carry that out.

I have no tattoos because I don't like them and therefore do not want them. I suspect that is also your reason. If it is, be truthful about it, and don't try to present it as a biblical mandate when you don't apply that same reasoning to eating pork or smearing blood on your door this [Passover] week.

If God wanted me to have a tatoo I think He would have put one on me when he was creating me.

I don't let my grandson pretend he's smoking a candy cigarette so I wouldn't let him pretend he has a real tattoo by letting him wear a washable one.

In doing so, you are teaching your grandchild what? Do you prescribe to legalism?

Our AWANA Cubbies get hand stamps for doing verses. They can choose from a lamb, elephant or Cubbie Bear. They wash off but could be considered 'tattoo like'. I see no problem with washable tattoo's no more than face makeup. [IMG]

Hopefully, I am teaching him not to smoke or get a tattoo and no, I don't prescribe to legalism, but I DO have convictions.
