One of the greatest lines I heard helping a candidate in 1984 was when he said,

"We have to realize that Jimmy Carter was twice the President that Ronald Reagan is....Twice the inflation, twice the unemployment and twice the interest rates"!!!!

That pretty much summed up the Carter administration.

"He sold out the legacies of his two dead brothers for the sake of his own political ideology."

The brothers weren't that great either. John Kennedy is considered a hero because he got shot. Ever notice that you don't hear a lot of talk about his amazing contributions to the world? There weren't any - unless escalating Vietnam counts.

The Civil Rights movement - for good or ill, was Lyndon Johnson's idea, not John's.

The Cuban Missle Crisis happened on John's watch, and left people all over the US terrified of the island across the bay.

There is a reason that people still whisper about whether or not Marilyn Monroe really killed herself or was murdered.

The Berlin Wall went UP on Kennedy's watch.

He had ties to the mafia.

As to Joe Kennedy Jr. - Katherine Mortimer put it best when she said, "The Kennedy family is too loud to consider marrying into."

Has anybody ever seen a better satire of a politician than Diamond Joe Quimby is of Ted Kennedy?

    As to Carter -

Housing interest rates hit an all time high that has not been reached since then.

The USSR invaded Afghanistan during Carter's watch.

The 66 hostages happened on Carter's watch.

The term "misery index" was invented and it went up 50% on his watch.

The worst thing he did, in my opinion, was establish the Department of Education and the Department of Energy. (Yes folks, there WAS a time when the feds didn't mingle in your schools.)

He is a wonderful human being, but he is a lousy President.

I used to say the very same thing but now that I know a little better, I don't think I was being fair. JFK was actually a very good president.

The economy was strong and growing under JFK and I believe that, had he lived, his second term would have been phenominal.

((By the way, if you ever want to make a liberal's head explode, point out to them that JFK was a supply sider!))

    No.

    LBJ.

Hmmm...That's interesting, since the Civil Rights movement started before either of these men took office.

You may be the first person I've ever heard use the Cuban Missle Crisis against JFK. From what I recall, he handled it pretty well.

    And what is that reason?

Yes, it did but, in all fairness, the events that led to the erection of the wall took place long before he was president.

    His father did.

One of the reasons that Frank Sinatra became such an outspoken Republican was bitterness over the Kennedy's rejection of him because of his mob ties.

He's not a wonderful human being.

Somebody who's support and appeasement of despots and tyrants allows innocent men, women and children to be terrorized and murdered is not a wonderful human being.

That this nitwit got the Nobel Peace Prize makes a laughingstock of the whole thing.

Oh no, John Kennedy did nothing good? Anybody remember his standing up to Nikita Krushchev during the Cuban Missile Crisis. No, saving humanity doesn't count as anything good, does it?

He also sanctioned an invasion of Cuba by Cubans and backed out, literally when they hit the beach, and abandoned them to their fate.

Saved "humanity" and practically murdered a bunch of Cuban patriots. A mixed record.

Jimmy Carter is not a wonderful human being.

Haw haw haw. You can't come up with any argument FOR all the good things he has done as a senator, so WE become the issue. Good job, P.A.

What do you think of him ? Has he done a good job as a senator, in your opinion ?

I think Priscilla is correct. We should never defame Ted Kennedy or any other liberal with the malicious truth.

I consider this guy and his cohorts the real issue. Nice try to change the subject, but perhaps you'd like to say something about the thread.
