I have seen several ti.es (at least three times on this board) the GOP being described as Christian.

As a Christian I view this as very problematic (to the point it is an anti-Christian view).

When I ask those who have made the claim to defend the statement I am met with silence, I assume because it is an indefensible comment.

But I will ask here -

What is Christian about the GOP?

The only Christian thing I can see plainly is that when President Trump chose the GOP to make his run (I have been told he changed his party affiliation previously several times) is that he came out against and actually has tried to reduce and/or halt abortion.

The other side is plainly pro-death.

    Wouldn't you say pro-life is God's "position"?

I would say there are Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Atheists who oppose abortion.

So no, I do not see how it would make the GOP "Christian".

So being pro-life is not necessarily Christian so it doesn't matter if it isn't exclusively Christian?
You might say, of course it matters.
So then, why not support the party that is pro-life to whatever extent it is?

I can think of a few reasons. First, the Church rather than a secular party is my voice. It is not a witness if a political party reverses roe vs wade. And, of course, abortion has never been declared illegal by our nation.

I will allow my stand for Christ to be my stand, not a worldly power.

Please show me then where you have tried to stop abortion.
We are under the scripture to obey earthly government. (Romans 13)
I suppose you don't pay taxes either.

The platform is based on Judeo Christian values. It's not a Baptist theological statement, but it's obvious.

What is Un- Christian in GOP Platform? What is Un- Christian in DNC platform? It's obvious when you compare the two.

What is unChristian about the GOP? The absence of Christ. The GOP does not glorify Christ, does not acknowledge Christ as Lord, does not give Christ the credit for good policy, and does not do the work of God's kingdom. It is a power of this World.

It is based on Buddhist-Muslim values as well.

We have a mission to reach women who are planning on seeking an abortion. We communicate the gospel to them. This we do in the name of Christ, not the GOP.

And yes, I pay taxes. This we are commanded to do (not only by the IRS).

Let's put it this way - Scripture warns us that the powers of this world are in opposition to God.

Are Republican Christians able identify ways that the GOP is contrary to God's kingdom?

No it's not. It may align with them, but it's not based on them.

It is not based on the Bible. The GOP has never even taken an stance on the deity of Christ, much less acknowledged Him as Savior.

It's based on continuity with the Judeo Christian values of our founders.

Pay taxes good for it also keeps you out of secular jail.
And does your mission say not to vote or belong to a particular party?
Or even not to vote GOP or DEM because there is no statement that Jesus saves from eternal death?
Or to make negative statements about particular politicians who do not promote the kingdom of God at every step?

They are not Seminary professors. How does their platform align with His commands? How bout DNC?
