For the sake of discussion on this thread - A formal church roll is required.

Now, who should be on the roll,
Must be Baptized?
by a church of like faith and Order
would a IFB accept a SBC baptism
would you accept a baptism (by immersion) from a foreign church - say pentecostal?

Do you have a "junior" membership list?
What is the age cutoff 14, 16, 18
If so is it mainly for voting (or lack of) anotherwards - are junior members dissallowed from voting in business meetings

Do you have membership catagories?
Active (self-explanatory)
Inactive - after how long - what action must be taken to be placed on this list

Displicine

Watchcare (person is still member of "home church" but temporaily located elsewhere)

Memorial membership list( for those who have passed away)

Transfer of letter
Would you send one to a non Baptist church?
Would you send one for a member on a disscipline or inactive list.

What would you do if requesting a church letter the sending church refused to send it due to a valid reason; an invalid reason?

other thoughts?

Yes they must be baptized but baptism should never be used as a sole avenue to membership.

Again baptism should never be used a the single reason the person is accepted or denied. Even someone from a sister church should be set down and asked or have to write out their understanding as to how they were saved. if someone from a Pentecostal church gave the correct answers and was scripturally baptized they should be accepted without another baptism.

No we do not have junior membership roles.

Personally I don't believe that sheep are suppose to vote. They are suppose to follow and the elders are to set the policy based on scripture.

This should be set up in the constitution by the elders.

I think most churches miss-use the letters. They should be of a nature that explains the current standing of the member, and if they are under discipline then that should be stated. Let the other church decide how to handle them. And yes I would send it to another denomination unless it was one who denies the gospel such as Mormon, JW's and such.
