I thought it was only my husband who is difficult to buy for. We have gone past surprises and no go for practical stuff instead of what I call dust gathering/ drawer filling stuff. I think we would both rather spend any money on plane tickets to somewhere. I know Rob wants to go back to Africa and I would love to go back to Greece.

Followinghim, feel free to send me a plane ticket to England anytime. I shall show my gratitude by using it.

Jim...doesn't the fact that I am sat here at this computer tell you that I can't afford one for me or anyone else. If I could I would gladly.
I haven't gotten over to the States or Canada yet. Mind you, that is partly due to my fear of flying over water...the atlantic is a little too deep, wide, and wet for me

But I love to travel, and I love to be overseas. If you come over this way be sure to call in on us won't you Jim

I would love to visit your area and you and your husband. Then too, I would love to attend a service at that famous Baptist church in Gloucester..I have heard so much about it from others.

We don't get over like we used to. Not a fear of flying, mind you. We have a number of reasons. One, we have the animals to care for, so Mary and I vacation separately. With family in Florida, she goes that way now. I just don't travel much. I have had invites to come over and preach...usually in Anglican parishes. This offsets my costs whilst there, but also is a burden on time.

Our best man still lives in Bootle, and we would like to see Reggie again. ALso friends on East coast..Lowestoft and Norwich, and obviously family around London and Wales. Oh, such a wide area to cover in just a month.

Cheers, keep smiling,

Jim

Sheila, that would be nice, but I should at least send you the cost of postage. It is not cheap anymore.

Cheers,

Jim

Soooooooooo! Services were just "Ho-Hum" at all of ya'll churches today, huh? Last week there was a fella gave me a call this past Tuesday--

"Preacher can I come by to see you??"

"Sure come on over!"

Anyway, after the usual manly chit chat--he says that he got saved during last Sunday's message--that when he walked down the isle to tell me--he got all nervous and didn't know what to tell me--but that he wanted to tell me (in the office) that he had prayed to repent of his sins and receive Jesus as his personal Savior---Halelujah! Amen???

Anyway--we started talkin' about his Profession of Faith and Baptism--so I'm thinkin'--"How about if I get Frank to be baptised on Father's Day! That would be a neat testamony!"---

So I talk him into it--he was going to make a Profession of Faith during my "Pastor's Moments"--I was going to call him up front at the beginning of the worship service and then we'd go straight up to the baptistry right then and there!

So Saturday nite I fill the baptistry and turn on the water heater--it was all ready to go! He and I go up to the change rooms while the congregation is singing---at last we're in the pool---and I'm glad none of ya'll were there to see what happened next---I don't know what Ninety Nine or jonmagee would have said had they seen me and I ought not to be tellin' it--

But I've been pastorin' now for almost 15 years and have baptized a few in that time---some tall, some short, some big, some skinny, some old---85 year old man was the oldest--he had been saved in a foxhole in Belgium and it took him 60 years but he finally got baptized---

anyway---this fella today was my age--and about my size---keep in mind--we had not rehearsed nor do I usually rehearse baptisms beforehand---and when I started to lean him down in the pool---he just kinda sorta pulled me down with him---I tripped on the stairs and went under with him--on top of him---goodness---only at a Redneck Mississippi church can a Cajun preacher do such a thing!!! I'm gonna try not to do that again--but hey, you never know!

But it was a good Father's Day--hope you guys are havin' one, too!

Your Southern Baptist preachin' buddy,
Blackbird

another statistic I have come across:

The greatest number oflong distance phone calls are made on mothers day; the largest number of collect calls are made on fathers day.

yours, Jon.

No lie!!! You forget that I ain't your average preacher! Any other preacher would be too dignified and pride would keep him from tellin'--
