Its sad, ain't it Gib? When my dad passed into the Land of the Living--and left his family in the Land of the Dying---us who were left saw less and less of each other. My brother, sister, and myself took care of momma until she passed into that same Land---and now I haven't seen my sister since Christmas! Oh, how I want to do a better job of seeing my sister and brother now!

But on my wife's side--her dad does a marvelous job of puttin' us together---we live here in Mississippi and hope to one day move to Alabama closer to them--pray for us, can you!!?

Your Southern Baptist buddy,
Blackbird

Good Morning All!

Hey Blackbird! Where's my preachin' tape???

Stop by and visit the "Daily Inspirational" in this forum. It's nothing fancy, just a 'thought for today' that I post each morning.

The patriarchs have all come and gone and no one else to lead the family.
Gib: That happened in our family too. I just restarted the reunions last year. We had 46 attending and it was just a last minute thing! Unfortunately, this year, it was cancelled due to so many conflicts in schedules. The younger generation needs to take over.

However, with just my kids, sil's, dil's and grandkids, when we all get together, we number 28!!!! Come on down!

I am prayed up and excited about going to church this morning! I just know the Lord has something really special for me today and I am ready to accept it!

It is a beautiful morning and I hope you all had a restful night's sleep. There is nothing quite like going to sleep with that 'peace that passeth all understanding' in your soul. It does the mind good and the sleep does the body good.

God is good...all the time!

Blackbird! Shame on you! It doesn't have to be a 'really good' sermon. I'm sure all the sermons you preach are 'really good' and very special!

Amen to that Sue!

Good morning folks, hope you are ready to bring something to church this morning. Remember the famous saying of the late President Kennedy? "Don't ask what the country can do for you, ask what you can do for the country." Well, this works in our churches too. Most folks are going there to get something and often come home empty handed (and it is not the pastor's fault either). But those who bring with them a blessing for others, will in turn be blessed by the Lord!

Barnabas: This is so true. Sometimes the preacher says broccoli and I hear cauliflower.

If you go with an open heart, wanting to learn, God will always have you hear what you need to hear, whether the preacher says it or not!

"God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to behold."

Yes I will. I have several family members within a 10 mile radius. I see them once or twice a year. I have one cousin who delivers parts to our company and that's the only time I see him. No. 1 son goes to youth group stuff and sees a few relatives. But it's been a long time since we sat down for a fish fry and some homemade peach ice cream.

On the other hand, even though we do not see each other that often, we can still call on each other in time of need.

Blackbird, the times my pastor has preached what in his opinion was his worst sermon, it seemed as though every other thing he said had been tailored by the Lord for my heart. And I know I don't tell my pastor how much I apreciate and love him and his family enough, and I don't tell him that often enough how I apreciate his stand on God's word, and his sermons.
Unfortunatly...I didn't get to hear his sermon today, because I was trying to pacify a screaming baby! {In nursery! I wasn't disrupting service!}
Poor Kaelea! She hates it when she gets sleepy, and fights it awful. I guess she figures screaming will keep her awake!
laugh.gif
I walked her around the room, I tried to get her to play, to color, to drink her juice...nothing worked! And she was sooo clingy. If she even thought I was putting her down she'd screm even louder. SHe kept crying into my hair {I had buggers, and slobber all in it, but I really didn't mind.} and she had her arms around my neck in a death grip. I finaly sat down in the rocker, and sang "Jesus Loves Me", and "Amazing Grace" while I rubbed her back. And in no time she was out! And I must say I've never heard a baby snore like that!
But I have the hardest time holding a little one with out balling my eyes out. So honestly, I didn't mind her nearly chocking me, or the fact I had to wash my hair when I got home from church. I just loved holding her and singing to her. As she feel asleep I just looked at the tiny miracle I held {And wondered how such a little baby could yell so loud... :D ;) } no honestly I just couldn't get over how perfectly made she was, and how breathtakingly beautiful she was with her cheeks damp with tears, her little lashes turned up, and her little open mouth that kept on making those adorable snoring souds!
When her mom came to get her and I told her laughingly what happened, and why her baby was out like a light she asked "So Abby, do you still want about five kids after this?" I just laughed and said, "Well if the Lord allows it, yes, I'd love a big family. Screaming, boogery babies included!"
Cause the moments they do something absolutly precious, adorable or cute, it definatly makes it worth it all!

Good Afternoon TFC, Blackbird, Following Him and Abby!

I had a wonderful time at church this morning. The Lord knew just what I needed! (No, I am not surprised)

Blackbird: Thanks for praying for the service. I guess my prayers aren't as good as yours because I prayed the Holy Spirit would move in a mighty way at your church this morning too!

FollowingHim: Please check your pms.

Abby Girl: You are right! I heard a preacher tell a story once about preaching what 'he' felt was a dud. Some woman told him on the way out that he did not "fill her cup". His wife whispered in his ear, "Don't worry about it honey, she had her cup upside down."

Be back later all,
Sue

Blackbird, maybe not for you to be the judge of your own sermons. The Lord is in control. He knows what He is doing
What was the text you used anyway. Our guest speaker was a real blessing today. Calls a spade a spade. I like that. I wonder if you would be kind enough to send me a tape sometime please ? I love listening to different sermons, and would be interested in listening to one of yours. I spose I could always send you one of my essays by return

Preachers can sometimes be harder on themselves than any critic. If they didn't throw rotten veggies at you, get up and leave, and you didn't contradict the Word of God, then "everything's gonna' be alright."

Hmm, I thought I was being encouraging but maybe it didn't come out right, sorry
. We never know how the Holy Spirit is going to move in someone's heart. That is what I meant. Sometimes we may not see results immediately. "IN HIS time, not ours". Maybe Blackbird could e-mail me a draught of his sermon, I am getting really curious about it now

Following Him: I understood you. Sometimes the preacher says corn, but if the Lord wants me to hear peas...I hear peas!

Blackbird says he is gonna wait 'til he gets a 'really good sermon' before he sends me a tape. I told him if they are from God, they're ALL good!

You were very encouraging and it did come out just right.
I know from my own experience teaching children and youth, and working in the music ministry, sometimes I am my own worst enemy. I often think I should have said this, or added that, or dropped this song, or I spoke to long, or no one responded, or that flopped. I always want my task to be clear to those before me. If I don't feel that I was, then I'm going to make mental notes. I try not to beat myself up in front of others, but sometimes I just can't help myself.
