Jim, the 2nd link you posted worked for me. It showed both pictures and I was able to open either one from there. [IMG]

Well mowed again this afternoon. I had to change the lawn mower blade. It was on really tight. Made me nervous to do it.

Got to wash up then be back.

Sherrie, I can't believe such a mechanic as you are would be nervous about changing a blade. The only hard part is the mental part — disconnecting the spark plug wire. I can do it and I'm a total klutz with machinery. Just as THE WIFE, who is a mechanic's daughter who rushes in where I fear to tread, would agree.

Besides, THE WIFE insists on mowing the yard. I take care of the flowers.

Oh my goodness....did I break the lawn mower? I did not disconnect the spark plug wire. UGH!

I cannot afford a new mower! Every time Kenny mows, he mows over stumps and rocks! You would think he would have learned by now with all my yelling about it. When the other son was here all the time, he would do all the maintenance on the mower and stuff.

I buy a new mower once a year. I am not doing it this year. My new rule...you break it you fix it. The blade cost 10.00, as a lesson to Kenny, it will be wrote down and when you got it you will pay on the bill. Maybe then he will stop.

It make me so sick inside changing the blade. I was afraid I would mess something up. Then gas poured out all over the place. I finally fixed it. But it was on tight.

Then the weed eater has the handy dandy attachment where you put two strings on for more power and better cut. Not the normal spool. So that was interesting figuring out how to cut with it. But it was really good. You don't have to tap for more fishing string. It uses thicker string too.

Kenny started the weed eater for me. I could not figure the starting game for that. Too much directions. We took turns. He mowed and then I did. We have a big place. But I am a better weed eater'er than him.

No, you didn't break the mower. But if you don't disconnect the wire, there is a (small) chance the engine could start while you're changing the blade. There is a magneto that could start the mower if there is enough movement in the blade.

Please, Sherrie, disconnect the wire, for the sake of your BB buddies. Other than that, it should be no problem.

As far as the spilled gasoline goes, turn it the other way; the cap is vented and the gasoline will spill out that way. There seems to be no way to protect the oil, but that can be cleaned out with a few pulls.

Best of all, when doing maintenace, put the mower in a vertical position, not on its side.

Just a few suggestions from someone who was once a teenager who took care of a dozen lawns.

rsr!! Thanks for Sherrie's advise--for giving it to her!! I know a little bit about mowers and stuff like that--and its true--there is always that teeny chance that the engine could start--if its electric start--something could short out and the starter could do something the fixer may regret--or like you said--just the slightest turn of the blade while taking it off just might cause an unwelcome trip to the emergency room--and that would mean a tetnis shot, a this shot and a that shot, stitches, pain, and a bill which means more pain--and then Kenny would be in some kind of deeeeeeeeeeepppppp hock when Sherrie gets home!!

I was runnin a "weed wacker"(hey, thats what we call um down here!) one time--there close to the gravel driveway and suddenly the thing picked up a rock and slung it into the side window of my trusty pick-up truck--shattered it to kingdom come!! So I tell my wife--"No problem! I can fix it! After all, what can a truck window cost anyway! I'll do it myself and save taking it to the body shop!!"

So I go to the glass place where they sell auto glass and I tell um what I want and they say, "You want this kind or that kind??"

    "Well, whats the difference?"
"One is more expensive than the other!"
"Give me the one that ain't so expensive!"
"That'll be 75 dollars plus tax!"
"Ouch!! Seventy five doughnuts?? How much would it be to have ya'll install it?"
"Sir, you don't want to know!!"

So, for all of us "Do it yourselfers" out there who mow, weed wack, dig in flowers, burn limbs and leaves and junk--lets be careful--

Over at my father-in-law's farm in Alabama he has a post hole auger that attaches to the tractor--and everytime one of us wants to use it--my wife's Granddaddy will give us "the lecture!"

"BOOOOOOY! You be careful with that thing!"
    "Yes Sir, Granddaddy! I will!"
"BOOOOOOY! That thing 'ull grind you up like sausage!"
    "Yes Sir, Granddaddy!"

And he's right! So for all of us Do it Yourselfers--again I say--be careful!

I am a perpetual do-it-yourself klutz! I have learned how to do things by trial and error. Here are some of the things I learned the hard way...

    1) When trimming hedges, keep the electric cord behind you ...ACE--new cord--$10.00, electrical tape--$1.49.

    2) When painting the outside of the house using a bendable ladder as a scaffold, watch that first step down...ER--badly twisted ankle--$75.00.

    3) When using a circular saw, keep your hand BEHIND the blade...ER--16 stitches at base of thumb--$165.00.

    4) When moving a couch into a house through a doorway that is the same size as the couch, don't get your hand caught between the door and the couch...ER--8 stitches on top of hand--$165.00.

    5) When moving a heavy TV, make sure you are strong enough to carry it...Wal-Mart--new TV--$350.00.

    6) When separating chicken legs and thighs, use a very sharp knife (you have to use more pressure with a dull knife)...ER--4 stitches on left index finger--$165.00.

I think you get the picture. [IMG] [IMG]

Good Morning! Finished up the mowing and weed eating already. I have got to weed the flower beds. My hosta's are gigantic this year.

But does anyone else seem to be having a lot of dandelions? I saw the whole block is like this. wonder what that means. Started sprinkling. So can't do flower beds.

Wonder if we will get devotionals on Saturday?

4:30 in the afternoon jonmagee's time. Wonder what he is up to on Easter eve?

I love dandelions! I like the little yellow flowers and then I like them when they turn to white head seeds (whatever that is called) because I like to blow them. Yes, I am one of those that help spread the seeds. [IMG]

One time after I taught my precious little granddaughter ( the one who is now on her way to college) to blow the dandelions, she chose my mother's prize tulip and was so proud when she blew all the petals off that tulip. [IMG]
I was embarrassed [IMG] but Great Granny thought it was so darling (her first great grandchild) [IMG] Now if I had done it, oops. [IMG]

Good Easter Eve, everyone. Couldn't resist telling an Easter Story from my family.

It is stormy here so it looks as if the hunts are going to be indoors today.

Oh, yes, I forgot. Ed does not like the dandelions at all and he is actually trying to get all the dandelions out of our yard. Doesn't stand a chance with all the wind and grandchildren blowing them. [IMG]

    May God BLess You All.
