Why was Obama elected:

Because there was a perception of policy failures by the previous administration.
Because he had the full backing of the mighty Chicago Daly Democrat machine

Because he received the necessary majority in electoral votes, the same reason that every other Presidential election has ever been decided.

The 'wisdom' and the 'why' of this election, just as any of the other 55 Presidential elections in our nation's history can be debated at length; the 'how' of none of then is in any question, whatsoever, from the human perspective.

From the 'divine' perspective, because that is whom God set up to be the 'king' of the USA.
